The County dedicated a bench and tree in Harold’s honor Monday morning on the North lawn of the Courthouse. Harold started working at the Courthouse in 1959 and retired in 2009. The bench is made from the former steps of the Courthouse and the tree, a Burr Oak, was ceremoniously plant-ed by Howard as part of the Kansas Territorial Sesquicentennial Commission’s tree planting project in 2004 to commemorate the 150th Anniversary of the Kansas Territory. Harold is pictured with his wife Margie, along with friends and former co-workers. Dear Santa,My name is Daxtur. I am 6 years old. This year I have been nice and naughty. This is a project that Mrs. Darla Brown stared by collecting money to buy ags to aid the veterans. The kids raised the money and the week of Veterans Day placed ags in the school yard to remember the fallen, those that are serving and the ones that have served. Ms. Hacker and Mrs. Gobel were the teachers present to receive the Certicates that were signed by the Most high Regent of the United States. The class room also received 24 ags and a banner that recognized their efforts. DAR applauds this project and the efforts of the kids.
