We’re sure this isn’t news to you, but ling the FAFSA will look a little dierent this year. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) will be available starting December 31 at fafsa.gov. The deadline to apply for maximum nancial aid consideration is April 15, 2024, so students will have a shorter window of time to apply this year. In light of the changes, we’re here to help students navigate the new FAFSA. Students and their families may schedule a virtual one-on-one appointment with one of our nancial aid experts if they have questions.Ball State’s school code for FAFSA is 001786.Explore Ball State’s scholarships and other need-based opportunities online at bsu.edu/naid. All of our automatic, merit-based scholarships awarded through Admissions are rolling decisions, meaning that we can update them for a student based upon 7th or 8th semester grades and/or test scores. Students are encouraged to continually send us new information to ensure we are reviewing their highest overall weighted GPA and scores. Do you have a student thinking ahead to medical school? Have them check out the Bachelors to Medical Degree (B/MD) pathway at Ball State! Indiana residents can submit an application for the B/MD after they’ve been admitted to Ball State. Students accepted into the B/MD are provided a provisional seat in the IU School of Medicine—Muncie campus as a freshman at Ball State. Benets of the program include tailored academic advising for aspiring medical students, access to research opportunities as an undergrad that are reserved for graduate students, and early clinical experiences. The B/MD is highly competitive with limited spaces available. Students enrolled in the B/MD must meet competitive GPA requirements each year and earn no less than the average MCAT from IU Medical School’s entering class from the previous year to keep their seat in the IU Medical School’s program.FAFSA & SCHOLARSHIPSMEDICAL DEGREE PATHWAY AT BALL STATEUPDATES FROMBALL STATE UNIVERSITYTEACHERS COLLEGEWill your school be holding a career fair for students? Ball State Teachers College would love to represent the teaching profession at your event! We will bring lots of information about what it takes to be a teacher, a current teaching major to interact with your students, and some great SWAG. If interested, please contact Katie Crews at kabenson@bsu.edu.

Ball State University and Ivy Tech Community College Muncie launched a dual-enrollment partnership program in 2022 to oer students a transitional pathway to a bachelor’s degree. This program is specically for select high school students that applied to Ball State, were waitlisted, and invited to apply to the NEST program. Participating students will take general education and pre-requisite courses at Ivy Tech’s Muncie campus and take one class per semester at Ball State. NEST students will live in residence halls alongside other Ball State students and be able to participate in most campus community activities.Students who complete the NEST program with a GPA of 2.5 or better will complete their Indiana College Core requirements and earn guaranteed admission to Ball State as a transfer student. The NEST program is available by invitation only. Invitations will be extended to select studetns at the beginning of the spring semester. If you have questions about NEST, contact the Transfer Center at transfer@bsu.edu or by calling 765-285-5604. If you have a student who has been put on our waitlist, we’ve notied them in their decision letter in their Cardinal Landing portal as to why they were waitlisted and the steps they can take to have their application reevaluated. If an applicant is waitlisted because of their GPA, we will need to see an updated trimester or semester transcript. Once grades are posted, we encourage the student to request another transcript be sent to Ball State so we can take a second look. Reminders will be sent to applicants in a few weeks to submit updated 7th semester transcripts. If an applicant is waitlisted because of their curriculum or trends, we need to see that they are on track to meet our CORE 40 requirements (ex: haven’t successfully completed Algebra 2) or show a signicant improvement in their academics following a recent downward trend.NEST PROGRAMDENIED STUDENTSWAITLISTED STUDENTSIf you have a student who has been denied admission, they still have options to ultimately attend Ball State. All students who are denied admission are given information about our Transfer Flight Path programs. This is an opportunity for students to begin their journey toward a bachelor’s degree at Ivy Tech or Vincennes University while still providing the academic support of Ball State advisors. We highly encourage students interested in completing their degree to enroll in one of these programs by lling out our Transfer Flight Paths form. Students denied admission to Ball State can appeal by submitting new academic information like an updated transcript or new test score. Once we receive their new information, an appeal form will be added to their Cardinal Landing portal.
