What is nutrition?

The process of providing or obtaining the food necessary for health and growth. This field of study focuses on foods and substances in foods that help animals to grow and stay healthy. Nutrition science also includes behaviors and social factors related to food choices. The foods we eat provide energy and nutrients such as protein, fat, carbohydrate, vitamins, minerals, and water. Eating healthy foods in the right amounts gives your body energy to perform daily activities, helps you to maintain a healthy body weight, and can lower your risk for certain diseases such as diabetes and heart disease.

Who doesn’t love biting into a thick, juicy burger? This American classic can be found at most restaurants and drive-thrus — but what you may not realize is that when chowing down on that beef patty, you could be ingesting much more than what’s listed on the menu. Here are 10 things to be aware of when ordering a burger — and the reasons you're better off making your burger at home

Eating salads is a super-convenient way to work in a couple of servings of vegetables and/or fruit. Green salads are on the menu of almost every restaurant. You can even buy a side salad (with Romaine lettuce, carrots and tomatoes, available with fat-free or reduced-calorie salad dressing) for a buck at many fast food chains these days. And you can make a green salad at home in 5 minutes, armed with a bag of pre-washed salad greens, a few carrots or other veggies, and a bottle of light salad dressing

Choosing nutritious foods helps your health in two ways. First, a diet packed with fiber-rich fruits and vegetables, lean proteins and healthy fats helps you feel fuller on fewer calories, which is key in keeping your weight in check. Plus, antioxidants and other beneficial compounds in foods offer unique health bones. Keep your body looking its best inside and out
