Who knew that one little piece of wax could change my life? I certainly didn’t!
Darceys story begins in 2011 when I noticed that the quality of scented wax products
on the market just didn’t live up to my expectations. I decided to invest in some
candle making supplies and try to create my own. After some investigation and
research, I discovered a fairly unknown type of wax that was natural, toxin free and
most importantly superior to the conventional wax products found on the market. You
may notice that I have used the word ‘Wax’ quite a lot! That’s simply because it is at
the core of what we do!
The rst Soy Wax melts were produced in my kitchen and became a hobby that helped keep the costs
of my home fragrance habit down! As my friends and colleagues began to gain interest in my products, it
sparked a business idea and I would now make soy wax products at home and sell them to friends and
family after realising there was a potential market out there looking for clean, toxin free fragrances.
I set about creating a business, a brand and a structure. Starting with markets and fayres before moving to
retail. I needed to discover a better way to get my products out to the public. In retail outlets, the products
were stuck beside leading brands and getting the message through to the customer about the benet of
soy wax was a key priority.
Thinking back to my work in the NHS, when the Avon lady would bring in catalogues to browse during
break times, the idea came to me that Darceys could work with this model of direct selling. The next step
would was to nd a strategic partner with the experience in this eld to take Darceys to the next level!
I arranged a stall selling Darceys products at an event organised by Avon. Whilst there, I met Clare Cameron
a Sales Leader for Avon. We got talking about my idea and she was interested in being involved. Within a
few months, we had created a small brochure and recruited 30 representatives as part of a trial and the
trial was a success!
This was now the direction Darceys would take. Over the past 3 years we have outgrown 3 workshops,
released 4 brochures, increased our range to 10 products available in over 50 scents in a 32-page brochure
and now have over 200 representatives working throughout the UK.
We were dealt a blow in 2015 when a re spread from a neighbouring building completely engulfed our
workshop! It’s the challenges in business that dene the strengths of a company and undeterred, we
bounced back within 2 months with a new workshop and we haven’t looked back.
2017 is set for high growth with the introduction of our Multi-Level Marketing system which
will allow our best representative to build teams of their own to train and support. A UK
tour by myself and Clare will take us to major cities in the UK to meet prospective
representatives and most exciting of all we will be announcing the winner of
our Top Seller Incentive in August who will be going on an all-inclusive
5* holiday to Crete. We are so glad that you are going to be part of our
