The Highlands School’s PRODUCTION OF The Wizard of Oz By L. Frank Baum With Music and Lyrics of the MGM MOTION PICTURE SCORE by Harold Arlen and E.Y. Harburg Background Music by Herbert Stothart The Wizard of Oz Youth Edition is presented through special ar-rangement with and all authorized materials are supplied by Tams-Witmark Winona, MN
Director’s Notes Our journey with the production of The Wizard of Oz for our cast and crew is similar to the quest that Dorothy and her gang experienced. Although we didnÕt have to deal with satisfying demands of a Wicked Witch or fake Wizards, we certainly had the demands of rehearsal time, limited financial resources, and learning/executing new skills in a brief window of time. Dorothy and her gang had hope that the Wizard was going to grant their wish. Our production team, cast, crew, and volunteers had hope that we were going to achieve what we set out to do. Glinda says to Dorothy, “YouÕve always had the power my dear, you just had to learn it for yourself.” Through GodÕs grace and guidance working His power in and through us, we have this beautiful show that highlights the gift of hope, per-severance, teamwork and friendship. Robbie Payne Special Thanks To the production team, which has been visioning, talking, and dreaming these songs since August, 2022: Robbie Payne, Anna Schauweker, Wendy Searcy, Patrick Mulvaney, Todd Forrey, Phil Lively, Amber Lively, Claudine Humphries, and Teresa Le Leux

Twelve years ago, a group of students approached their parents, who just happened to be the music teacher and the science teacher, and asked if they could have a musical at The High-lands School. Faculty, students, and parents worked together to start a beloved tradition that our whole community has enjoyed and cherished. This musical is a tribute to you and a pledge that we will continue to sing, dance, build, paint, entertain and use our gifts to glorify God. This is hard work, a true labor of love.
