ABOUT THE INTERPROFESSIONAL PALLIATIVE CARE PROGRAM The Interprofessional Palliative Care Program expands education opportunities for professionals seeking to provide high quality palliative care to patients with serious and life limiting illnesses and their family caregivers The program advances clinical knowledge builds evidence based palliative care practice and enhances communication skills The program offers a flexible hybrid curriculum taught by expert faculty who provide an interprofessional learning environment that mirrors the palliative care work setting Program options include a Graduate Certificate and a Master of Science degree for biomedical and allied healthcare professionals Professionals can choose between Biomedical or Allied Health professional tracks Graduate Certificate and MSPC programs are open to biomedical and allied health professionals including but not limited to BIOMEDICAL PROFESSIONALS Physicians Pharmacists Nurses BSN Advanced Practice Nurses Physician Assistants ALLIED HEALTH PROFESSIONALS Social Workers Spiritual Care Providers Psychologists Counselors Therapists Interprofessional Graduate Palliative Care Certificate The Graduate Certificate is the first two semesters 12 credits of the Master of Science degree program and develops a foundation for palliative care career advancement that includes an interdisciplinary core of communication skills pain management and non pain symptom management integrating psychosocial spiritual ethics dimensions of patient and family care Students can apply these 12 hours to the Master of Science program within seven years SEMESTER 1 SEMESTER 2 PC Core Concepts and Communication Skills Basic Pain Assessment and Management Interdisciplinary Care for Non Pain Symptoms A Interdisciplinary Care for Non Pain Symptoms B Hybrid course online study combined with one three day weekend intensive taught on the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora Colorado I am impressed by the comprehensive and interprofessional training I would encourage interested clinicians to become palliative care community specialists Ira R Byock MD FAAHPM Executive Director and Chief Medical Officer Institute for Human Caring Providence Health Services

Master of Science in Palliative Care MSPC All students complete six semesters 36 credit hours of interdisciplinary coursework in palliative care core concepts advanced communication skills teamwork and leadership community integration and advanced assessment of pain and non pain symptoms Each week psycho social spiritual ethics dimensions of patient and family care are integrated Core and track curricula focus on evidence based practices in diverse palliative care settings Capstone courses provide faculty mentors in project development and implementation impacting the student s organization or area of practice SEMESTER 3 SEMESTER 4 SEMESTER 5 SEMESTER 6 Communication Skills Refinement Advanced Illness in Special Settings A Advanced Illness in Special Settings C Palliative Care Integrated in Your Community Systems Thinking Topics Capstone Project Preparation Advanced Illness in Special Settings B Advanced Concepts in Pain Management Biomedical Track OR Death and Dying Unique Role of the Allied Health Professional AHP Track Master s Capstone Hybrid course online study combined with one three day weekend intensive taught on the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora Colorado CURRICULUM DETAILS Online courses are 8 weeks completed one course at a time Flexible completion up to 7 years Graduate Certificate 12 semester credit hours Two semesters in nine months of continuous study One 3 day on campus weekend intensive experience Master of Science Degree 36 semester credit hours Six semesters in two years of continuous study Three 3 day on campus weekend intensive experiences Becoming a Palliative Care Community Specialist The Interprofessional Graduate Certificate and Master of Science in Palliative Care equip graduates to serve as Palliative Care Community Specialists who demonstrate mastery in the following areas Communication Pain and non pain symptom management Ethics advocacy and legal aspects of care Spiritual religious and existential aspects of care Social and cultural aspects of care Psychological aspects of care Palliative care integration Palliative care education Systems thinking The combination of online and on campus course work is an excellent melding The three day intensive was absolutely a positive experience Ellen Fulp PharmD CGP Current MSPC Student
