Empowering ourselves with safety skills and knowledge is an essential part of fostering aresilient and supportive campus community. Join us for a comprehensive Active ThreatResponse Training session led by the Emergency Management and the Safety and Securityteam. This workshop will provide attendees with critical skills and strategies to respondeffectively in the event of an active threat on campus.Learning Objectives:Understand the Principles: Gain insights into the Run/Hide/Fight (orAvoid/Deny/Defend) principles, learning how to assess the situation and respondappropriately.Resources and Support: Discover available resources on campus for safety and security,including reporting procedures and support systems. For the past two years, President Bernardo-Sousa has invited Providencecampus faculty and staff to gather for regular conversations aboutJWU’s culture of inclusion and belonging. Conversations have beencentered around a variety of identities and issues identified through theIDEA Survey and program participants.JWU’s Culture of Inclusion & BelongingTuesday, Nov. 12th, 2:00-3:00pmWildcat Center Lounge (Harborside campus)This year, President Bernardo-Sousa invites you to discuss how your experiences on campusconnect to our newest strategic plan. Each session will focus on different aspects of thestrategic plan by sharing information and resources, as well as discussing how your own role oncampus contributes to this work. Space is limited. On Friday, December 6 from 10-12 and 1-3 pm S.I. Aurora from the Institute forExperiential Learning will host a by invite only session. Faculty who attend will earn abadge from the IEL! The workshop will engage with Kolb’s learning theory and its grayareas, as well as the possibility for entering the cycle from random points or in acounterclockwise direction. A portion of the workshop will be dedicated to critiquesover Kolb’s model, its language, and its cycle. We’ll also delve into the yin and yang oflearning styles. There is a cap of 32 faculty for this by invite only session. Each of thecollege leads will extend an invite to a few faculty to join this non-recorded session on afirst-come first-serve basis. In addition, if you have already implemented REAL in oneof your courses and would like to push your thinking further, email real@jwu.edu andwe will reserve a handful of Champions workshop seats as first-come, first-served. In fact, themembers of our first memoir writing cohorthave met several times and are working ondrafting their stories to share with each otherfor feedback.
