rmcollege.caPROGRAM OVERVIEWCommunity Support Workers are dedicated para-professionals committed to improving the quality of life for individuals facing diverse challenges. CSWs administer and implement a variety of social assistance programs and community services including life-skills workshops, substance abuse treatment programs, support programs, and more for a variety of predominantly vulnerable community members including but not limited to:• homeless persons• seniors• children with special needs• Indigenous Peoples• pregnant teenagers• people with substance abuse problems and addictions.LOCAL COLLABORATIONRidge Meadows College is maintained and operated by School District 42 (Maple Ridge – Pitt Meadows). As part of the development for this program, the college collaborated with relevant local busi- nesses, non-prots and health authorities to design a program that meets the needs of employers in the community.LEARN MOREVisit our website to learn more about our admission requirements and program fees.https://rmcollege.sd42.ca/program/cswWHY RIDGE MEADOWS COLLEGE?PRACTICAL EXPERIENCEThe CSW program includes two practicum place-ments: one early in the program to develop student understanding of the position‘s responsibilities, and a second, longer practicum, so students can gain relevant work experience before graduation. Graduates will obtain additional third-party certications in: First Aid (level 1), Foodsafe (level 1), WHMIS, and CPI Non-Violent Crisis Intervention.FLEXIBILITYStudents can take the CSW program full-time over 10 months, or part-time at a speed of your own choosing, so long as you complete within 5 years. In addition, the program has small class sizes of about 15-20 students which leaves plenty of time for personalized instruction.
