4We dedicate the 2021 yearbook to Toni Natale. Toni Natale has contributed to the Cos Cob Football and Cheerleading Community for 50 years. Toni began coaching cheer for the St. Lawrence Giants in 1971 and then went on to be an instrumental member of the Crusher Community from its inception in 1982 acting as a cheer coach and football treasurer. There are no words to describe the dedication, time, and commitment that she has given to the cheerleaders, players, coaches and parents of the Cos Cob Crusher Community. Toni is the epitome of a great coach and leader. She has always been loved by all and has been like a “second mom” to many- cheerleaders and players alike. The amount of time Toni has taken over the years to teach the sport of cheer and to encourage and support the players and cheerleaders on and off the field is immeasur-able. Whether it be in the beginning days of the Crushers when she would search the local thrift shops to pull together uniforms for the players so they could play with pads or the long nights she has spent in the Cos Cob School gym teaching and perfecting the cheer team’s exhibition routine, Toni’s love for the organization has never wavered. Toni, You have influenced so many with your selflessness, generosity and big heart. You have touched so many lives throughout the years and we thank you for 50 years of dedication to the Cos Cob Community and the 40 years you have been apart of the Crusher Family. “Toni has been the rock of the Cos Cob Athletic Club. She was the one I called whenever I needed anything and she was always willing to do whatever it took to get the organization o the ground.”- John Wells- Founder of the CCAC and Cos Cob Crushers“Although she was my grandmother, when I cheered, she never gave me special treatment and treated me just like everyone else. Grandma always pushed us because she knew we could do better. Since I joined the organization in 1985 as a bantam cheerleader, Toni has been a role model to me in so many ways. But what made the whole experience of being a Cos Cob Crusher Cheerleader better was getting to share that opportunity with my Grandma as my coach.
