R'BONNEY GABRIELMISS UNIVERSER?Bonney is the lead sewing inst ructor at Magpies & Peacocks, a Houston-based non-profit design house that is dedicated to using ?Fashion As A Force For Good? through sustainability and community impact. As a ?Gucci Changemakers? recipient , the company was honored for its work of divert ing unwanted textiles and fabrics from landfills and turning t hem int o fashion collections. Within t he ?MAKR? program, she teaches sewing classes to women that have survived human trafficking and domestic violence.As the first Filipino-American to win Miss USA, she shares the import ance of embracing your culture. As a voice for Asian Am ericans, she opens the door for more diversity and represent at ion in societ y and was honored to be published in Vogue Philippines. Angelena Taylor, the reigning Ms. Michigan World Universal, is a 35-year-old military caregiver from Det roit, MI. She is a cat mom , loves to travel, and enjoys empowering and advocating for caregivers like herself.Angelena?s care journey began as a 28-year-old graduate student as she pursued her studies in applied behavioral analysis at Wayne Stat e University in 2015. Her dad, a twice-ret ired former law enforcement officer and Vietnam-era United States Marine Corps veteran, suffered a stroke short ly aft er she began school. Navigating grad school is hard enough but with the added challenge of becoming a caregiver, she found herself facing great uncertainty and needed support to care for her father.Aft er her father ?s stay in a short -t erm care facilit y following his discharge from t he hospit al, Angelena instantly became a caregiver and learned t hat there was much to be desired for t he way that America?s elders, veterans, and caregivers are cared for. With little to no training, she was responsible for flushing his feeding tube, medication managem ent, hygiene needs, financial management, t ransportat ion, and much more. Many services t hat she and her fat her should have been eligible for were denied, which has m ade it difficult t o navigate care and career. Striving for a better care infrastructure, Angelena became a change agent and advocate not only for her fat her and for herself, but for ot her caregivers across the nation. She is 1 of 53 million family caregivers and 1 of 5.5 m illion m ilit ary caregivers in the US.Since becoming her fat her ?s caregiver, Angelena successfully graduat ed with her m aster ?s degree and began her career while sharing her st ory across various platform s and audiences which has helped to inspire and mot ivate other caregivers across the nation and serve as a catalyst for policymakers to change our care infrastructure. Her story has been featured in Young Life Interrupted, Vox, The Washington Post, The New York Times, The Tight Knit Project podcast series, Veterans Perspect ive Radio, The Tamron Hall Show, and many more.As a Hidden Hero and Dole Caregiver Fellow representing the stat e of Michigan wit h t he Elizabeth Dole Foundation, Angelena organizes and attends com munity events t o connect wit h local milit ary caregivers to offer support and connect them and t heir veterans with much-needed resources. When she is not engaging in communit y outreach, Angelena loves to volunteer with Soldiers? Darlene Quinn has enjoyed a t hirty-year modeling career, which started in her college days. Her first modeling work thrived in retail cat alogs, runway fashion shows, and portfolio development. As Darlene's modeling career unfolded, she gained a plethora of experience in runway fashion shows, edit orial print work, e-commerce, fit-modeling, trunk shows, event modeling, spokesmodel, brand ambassador modeling, catalog, hair salon market ing, event mingle m odeling, social media campaigns, and video work.She is currently signed with STATE Managem ent Los Angeles for lifestyle modeling: going on castings for American Express, Chevron,Juvéderm, Amazon, David?s Bridal, Paul Mitchell hair products, and many ot her corporate campaigns. Darlene walks for top internat ional designers at New York Fashion Week each year. Along with that, Darlene has had 15 magazine covers and 25+ inside magazine feat ures spanning her career.Darlene feels lucky to have st ayed relevant in t he business. Keeping her body healthy t hrough clean eating and exercise, she maint ains her ability to fit in a designer 's sample size.
