The BCPCA would also like to give spe cial recognition to Rob Bateman Western Oil Services Rob has recently retired and is step ping away from our association Rob has been a key player in the formation of the BCPCA as well as the ITA Trade Certification program Rob served as a Director with the CPCA as well as the PEI Group 10 His passion for our associa tion and the industry will be missed but we are quite certain his successor Anh Diep will fill the void We look forward to Anh s participation We look forward to welcoming our members to the upcoming event APSSCA ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING By Marcus Cormier President APSSCA reps Marcus Cormier Al Lemoine and Howard Heal with Kids Cancer Care reps Drew Whelan and Kim McNulty The APSSCA Annual General Meeting was held on June 5 2019 at the Deerfoot Inn and Casino in Calgary The board of directors would like to thank retiring board member and secretary Crawford Ritchie for his contributions to our association Michelle Rae Executive Director of the OPCA 6 CANADIAN PETROLEUM CONTRACTOR OCTOBER 2019 gave a presentation on the B139 Technician course they are currently developing The OPCA has developed this training program to fill identi fied gaps in the industry with respect to genera tor installations and inspections We also held our annual golf tournament on June 6 at the Sirocco Golf Club in Calgary This event supports Kids Cancer Care of Alberta and we are thrilled to have raised 3 649 this year We would like to thank all our members and sponsors who attended and supported our event Over the summer the board completed updates to its online membership system in order to facilitate the renewal process and allow members an easy way to keep their business and contact information current All members should have received an email with a link to their information If you have not received one please contact us at info apssca com so that we can make the necessary updates to your records and designated representative NEWS FROM THE SRPCA By Arlene Wright President Our AGM 21st Annual Golf Tournament took place on May 30 2019 at the Legends Golf Course in Warman SK We had a great turn out for the golf tourna ment but unfortunately we did not have a quorum for our AGM We did have a guest speaker from the Govern ment of Saskatchewan at our AGM Mr David Rezansoff Manager HAZMAT and Impacted Sites HMIS Environmental Protection Branch with the Ministry of Environment Dave was able to explain to us the permit submissions and approval process for the Construction Alteration Decommissioning of Storage Facilities that fall within the Hazardous Substances and Waste Dangerous Goods Regulations Dave also advised that the department was scheduled to form an Advisory Committee in August or September 2019 This committee will be reviewing the current HSWDG Act Regulations and Code Chapters to recommend any changes that may be required The SRPCA will be working with this Advisory Committee There are no meetings scheduled until after the Federal Election and pending the announcement for the date of our Provincial Election

CPCA TRAINING AND CERTIFICATION By Michelle Rae CPCA Training Program Manager National Training Standard CPCA s training and certification program was developed to provide a national training standard for individuals entering the petroleum mechanic industry as well as for experienced technicians The program is based on national standards including the National Fire Code and the Canadian Council Ministers of the Environment Code of Practices The CPCA licenses cover all aspects of petroleum work from an entry level course for individuals new to the industry to all work involving aboveground and underground petroleum service to service and maintenance PMH The PMH license is a prerequisite for individuals new to the industry and or those who do not have the required experience The course provides an interpretation of Part 4 of the National Fire Code This interpretation assists in understanding the operating require ments dispensing operations and safety requirements of the National Fire Code OCTOBER 2019 CANADIAN PETROLEUM CONTRACTOR 9
