The story of Joshua is a powerful reminderof this truth. After the death of Moses,Joshua was entrusted with the monumentaltask of leading the Israelites into thePromised Land. Imagine the weight of thatresponsibility! Yet, in Joshua 1:9, God giveshim a command that echoes through theages: "Be strong and courageous. Do notbe afraid; do not be discouraged, for theLord your God will be with you wherever yougo."Life can throw some pretty crazy curveballsour way, can’t it? From unexpectedchallenges at work or school to personalstruggles and worries about the future, it’seasy to feel overwhelmed and anxious. Buthere’s the good news: as followers of Jesus,we’re invited to see the world through eyesof faith instead of fear.God's words to Joshua are not just ancientencouragement—they are a promise for ustoday. When we face daunting tasks, challenging situations, or uncertain futures,we can hold onto the truth that God is withus. He calls us to be strong and courageous, not because we are capable on our own, butbecause He is our strength.Choosing faith over fear is a daily decision. It means trusting that God is bigger than ourbiggest worries and that His plans for us aregood, even when we can't see the wholepicture. It’s about focusing on His promisesrather than our problems. When Peter walked on water, he began tosink when he took his eyes off Jesus andfocused on the wind and waves. (Matthew14:29-30) Similarly, our fears often growwhen we shift our focus from God to ourcircumstances. But when we keep our eyeson Jesus, we find the strength to walkthrough any storm.Joshua 1:9"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; donot be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go."Faith Over Fear
Faith isn’t just wishful thinking or blind optimism. It’s a confident assurance that God is who Hesays He is and that He will do what He haspromised. It’s trusting in God’s characterand His faithfulness, even when our currentsituation looks bleak.Seeing through eyes of faith means trusting thatGod is with us, no matter what we face. It’sabout focusing on His promises and His powerinstead of our problems. When we look at ourcircumstances through faith, we remember thatGod is bigger than any obstacle we mightencounter. He’s got our back!Seeing through eyes of faith also means shiftingour perspective. Instead of focusing on the sizeof our problems, we focus on the greatness ofour God. Remember the story of David andGoliath? While everyone else saw a giant toobig to defeat, David saw a giant too big to miss.He knew that God was with him, and that gavehim the courage to face the giant head-on.Seeing through eyes of faith means trusting thatGod is with us, no matter what we face. It’sabout focusing on His promises and His powerinstead of our problems. When we look at ourcircumstances through faith, we remember thatGod is bigger than any obstacle we mightencounter.
