AAHH-Newsletter Vol. 2 2024 African American Heritage House, Inc.Lula Briggs Galloway, CEO of the NationalAssociation of Juneteenth Linage Inc., spentyears working with Congress to makeJuneteenth a national holiday. Galloway, a paralegal, began hostingJuneteenth festivals in Saginaw, Michigan in1990. In 1997, as President of the NationalAssociation of Juneteenth Lineage, sheconvinced members of Congress to recognizeJuneteenth with a joint resolution. History Park’s African American HeritageHouse in San Jose, California, is a memorialto Galloway. She passed away just beforethe community center was dedicated in late2008. The African American Heritage Houseis a testament to her legacy and theimportance of honoring African Americanhistory.
