This partnership enables the RM toundertake significant upgrades to the community's sewerinfrastructure. The work will involve multiple excavation sitesas well as the installation of Insituform lining within existingsewer pipes. Insituform is a trenchless rehabilitation methodknown as Cured-In-Place Pipe lining. The process involvesinserting a flexible, resin-saturated liner into the existing sewerpipe through a manhole. Once in place, the liner is expanded tofit the pipe and then cured using hot water, or steam hardeningthe resin and forming a new seamless pipe inside the old one. This method extends the life of the aging sewer system withminimal digging and disruption to the surround area. Work onthe project is expected to begin early fall. Watch the RMFacebook page for updates on the project start date. Photo of Insituform Installation

Article Submitted by: Whitney Hodgins, Recreation Assistant The Peanut Trail of Reston ManitobaAmong the luxurious landscape and multiple services that Reston Lake & Campground has to offer, nestled just off to the side of the Reston Golf Course, sits the Peanut Nature Trail. This nature trailruns 2.9km in length and is home to elk, sage, red willow, plus all the bugs you can think of. But whatmakes the Peanut Trail even more enticing to attempt to walk it is a historic site to what used to beknown as the CPR Reston Train Station that ran from 1906-1961. This train station connected Restonto the town of Wolseley, Saskatchewan, and it was the train line that brought much needed supplies tothe town in those early days, from metalworks to foodstuffs. Locally it became known as “ThePeanut”a name given by Ed Scriver who worked as editor ofthe Wolseley News. He described the train’s whistle asthat of a “peanut vendor” and thus the nature trail’snamesake was born. What once was a bustling place tobe, now holds old long lost stories of what it lookedlike back in its hay day with historic informationboards along the trail, rivets that the rail ties made inthe earth so you can physically be able to touch historyunderneath your feet. Today, the trail is not just therefor historic value, it is also the location and home ofthe Peanut Pal Geocache Mystery!
Pipestone Homecoming 2025 - Only Days AwayIt is nearly two years since our Committee Chair, Wiley Gilliard, came up with the idea of Pipestonehosting a Homecoming July 11, 12 & 13, 2025. A quarter of a century ago was the last big celebrationin Pipestone and 2025 seemed the perfect year to do it again. The Pipestone Lions are celebrating their45 year of service to the community and the Pipestone 4-H Beef Club is recognizing 85 years of 4-Hfor the surrounding young people. This also seemed like the perfect time to give the cenotaph park, site of the former Pipestone Memorial Hall, a facelift and in only months of actual work time thepark has been transformed into a legacy for all Pipestone residents past, present and future. AnotherHomecoming project for town is the new sign that will be erected coming into town off Highway 83.It was designed by committee member, Erickka Patmore, and will no doubt be a photo backdrop thatweekend. Pipestone Homecoming 2025 facebook page is full of wonderful photos that have beenforwarded to share. It is worth an evening taking the time to check them out or go back and browsethrough them one more time. It is going to be an amazing weekend. Official activities begin Fridayafternoon but we are sure the campgrounds are going to be buzzing already Thursday evening. If youfeel like getting an early start down memory lane take a walk around town to check out the lot historyand learn who lived where. There is a great lineup of activities to keep everyone of all ages busy allthree days with Par Rec activities for the kids, Slow Pitch and beer gardens for the older crew. Be sureto start off with registration at the hall and get your name in on the fabulous raffle prizes. Fridaynight kick off with the Travis Barre show south of the hall is going to be jam packed so grab yourlawn chair and come early for a good seat, fireworks to follow. Don’t forget to check out thememorabilia in the Drop In that will be open all weekend. Saturday’s highlights will be the CemeteryWalk in the morning, the mini school reunion in the afternoon and of course the supper and socialSaturday night. The dancing will pause at 11 pm for the 50/50 draw and someone could findthemselves $15,000 richer if all tickets sell. Sunday starts off early with the Pipestone 4-H Beef Clubpancake breakfast, a church service followed by the parade and rumour has it as of mid-June there are70 some entries. The weekend will wrap up with the opening of the new Memorial Park followed bythe Pipestone Lions 45 Anniversary recognition. Local photographer Kalli-Jo Marsh will be on handto capture the fun all weekend long. She will be more than pleased to snap that special photo of youand your best buddies from days gone by. Pipestone has always had a strong sense of community. Aswith all projects the homecoming committee broke up into sub groups that have stepped forward totake leading roles. Many other volunteers are coming forward as well to make sure the weekend is asuccess. If you would like to be more involved Homecoming weekend, the committee is still lookingfor volunteers to help out with short shifts here and there. ththCheck the lineup for the weekend on the posters throughoutthe area and the Facebook page, Pipestone Homecoming2025 and be sure to get your tickets on the 50/50 draw.

Veteran Banners Hang in Reston Memorial Park RM of Pipestone Chemical Jug Sitesin the park will give visitors a more up close andpersonal view of the veterans. The banner committeewould like to thank the park committee for supportingthe idea of the banners hanging there. From TrailsAlong the Pipestone, ‘The people of the district wishedto honor their war dead of 1914-1918 and purchased acenotaph and then needed a place to put it. There werea couple of suggestions but Mr. Alf Archer suggesteda park where people could visit and the names on thecenotaph would be constantly before the public eye.’Now one hundred and three years later the faces ofmany of these same veterans whose names areengraved on the cenotaph or gave of their youth willbring a sense of reality to those who visit of all thatwas sacrificed. Please take some time this summer tovisit both Reston and Pipestone Memorial Parks, The Reston Memorial Park will be the new home for the banners of Reston sponsored veterans. Thisspring work began in the park in preparation to install the poles along the walkway with the goal tohave the banners up for July 1st. Locating the banners enjoy the beauty they hold. Take time to think not onlyof the veterans these places were built for but of all who have come before us, the initial caretakers andnow the current caretakers and what they are leaving behind for those who will come after. Photo Submitted by Kim MacKenzieThe RM of Pipestone is making important changes to its chemical jug disposal process as part of itsongoing participation in the Cleanfarms Program, a national initiative focused on the safe collectionand recycling of agricultural waste. To meet Cleanfarms pick-up requirements, all chemical jugs mustbe properly bagged before drop-off. In order to ensure compliance and improve oversight, the RM ispermanently closing all chemical jug drop-off sites throughout the municipality, with the RestonLandfill now serving as the only approved and monitored location for disposal. Disposal bags are available for pickup at theReston Landfill. The RM of Pipestone appreciates the continuedcooperation of local producers in supportingresponsible and sustainable agricultural wastemanagement.

Born in Deloraine and raised in Medora as one of 13 children, Betty sharedmany fond memories of growing up surrounded by siblings and friends. She met her husband, Stan, atjust 15, and together they built a life rooted in love, hard work, and family. Married in 1960, they shared63 wonderful years and raised eight children. Betty was the heart of the home—a true homemaker whogardened, canned, cooked, and cheered on her children in every activity imaginable. Her door was alwaysopen, the kettle always on, and her laugh unforgettable. She gave her time generously—babysitting, working in local schools and hospitals, helping at the rink and golf course, and serving on communityboards. Even as her own family grew, she welcomed foster children into her home. Betty and Stan farmedin several Manitoba communities before settling in Cromer and later Reston. They loved traveling to seetheir children and made many cherished memories on trips with family and friends. Betty will beremembered for her humour, her wisdom, and the quiet strength she carried through life.
