Obituary Earline Evelyn Roth n e Hatcher a lifelong resident of New Orleans Louisiana peacefully passed away on July 4 2024 at the age of 81 She was preceded in eternal life by her loving parents Irvin W Hatcher Sr and Rose Thomas Hatcher brother Irvin W Hatcher Jr sister in law Sylvia A Hatcher and dear nephew Irvin W Hatcher III Earline leaves to cherish her memories her daughter Rose Marie Roth grandson Jonathan C Bolden Destiny great grandchildren Jonathan Kyron Jaidyn Perry Laila Jazlyn and Jordan Bolden brother Gerald Hatcher adopted sister Patricia A Ginart and a host of other close relatives and friends Her passing marks the end of a life characterized by unwavering commitment to her family friends and community Earline devoted her life to improving public transportation and ensuring equity for all citizens of Greater New Orleans Her years long leadership of the RTA Special Transit Services Advisory Committee ensured that the voices of paratransit users and community partners were heard

Mrs Roth served on the New Orleans Regional Transit Authority RTA Board of Commissioners for 23 years from 1995 to 2019 including seven years as vice chairwoman Throughout her tenure she was a passionate champion for improving public transit access for senior citizens and people with disabilities Earline s dedication to public service earned her several accolades including the Governor s Volunteer of the Year Gold Award a Certificate of Appreciation from the President s Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities and she was recognized as a CityBusiness Woman of the Year Earline s life was characterized by her commitment to family friends and community Her impact extended far beyond her immediate family touching the lives of countless individuals through her advocacy work and public service As a licensed cosmotologist Earline enjoyed sharing her original and eccentric creations in hair makeup and fashion She shared her talents with the Zulu Social Aide and Pleasure Club serving as the makeup artist for many Zulu kings queens and maids

As New Orleans bids farewell to one of its most dedicated public servants Earline Roth s legacy of compassion advocacy and tireless work for transit equity will continue to inspire future generations Her life serves as a testament to the power of dedicated public service and the profound difference one individual can make in their community For five decades Earline was instrumental in many successful political campaigns She stressed the importance of voter registration in her community She insisted that the candidates in whose campaigns she worked understood the importance of reaching out to the elderly and disabled constituents and she demanded that the outreach continued throughout their terms in elected office Earline leaves behind a legacy of compassion advocacy and service Her impact on the lives of countless individuals in New Orleans particularly those in the elderly and disabled community will be remembered for generations to come Her daughter whom she affectionately referred to as Marie and grandson Jonathan were the center of her world bringing her immeasurable pride and joy She will be deeply missed by her family friends and all those whose lives she touched through her tireless work and boundless dedication
