THEPOWERCODEMany believers are content with knowingthat heaven will be their final restingplace; but have not fully processed whattheir time on earth really looks like, spiritually.od has strategically givenus all that we need tohave a successful spirituallife while on earth. Thequestion is: Do we havethe desire to receive whatHe has so freely given? GWe must understand that God has madeprovision for us by giving us individualsthat have made a commitment to God toequip His people: This can be illustrated through the Five Fold Ministry. The five-fold ministry is a biblicalteaching based on Ephesians 4:11-13,and it comprises five specific roles orgifts given by God to the church to fulfillits purpose. The five roles are apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors andteachers. Each role is meant to serve, equip, and edify the church. Here is the breakdown:Ephesians 4:11-13 (KJV)11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto themeasure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:Firstly, we have Apostles, who areappointed by God to establish churchesand oversee them by the principles of theGospel. They are urged to plant andstrengthen churches through wiseleadership and a clear understanding ofGod's will.Next, we have Prophets, who are calledto speak into the future, proclaimingGod's will, and foretelling events tocome. Their role is crucial in guiding thechurch and the people of God in thedirection of the Lord's will. Then, we have Evangelists, who arepassionate about preaching the Gospeland leading people to Christ. They play avital role in helping people understandthe love of God and the need forrepentance.Pastors are called to shepherd, guide, and protect the flock. They have a heartfor people and are entrusted with theduty to care for each member of thechurch. They have to provide spiritualfood so that each person may grow intheir faith.Lastly, we have Teachers. Teachers areexperts in the Word of God. They have a passionto train others and to equip them to teachothers also. They play a critical role in equippingthe rest of the 5 Star Power and, ultimately, therest of the Body of Christ.5 Star Power also referred to as Five FoldMinistry is a manifestation of God's grace, agift from the Father to help equip the church todo the work of the ministry. May we all strive touse our gifts and roles effectively in the body ofChrist, for His glory. Amen!I S S U E 4 5 S T A R P O W E R4

Understanding what certain colorssymbolize can help us gain a deeper understanding of Scripture and provide revelation in our faith walk. When the color PURPLE is revealed in a dream- the context of the dream is important in understandingwhat God is communicating to us. I want to give a brief definition or explanation of SRA who have not heard ofit. SRA is an abbreviation of Satanic Ritual Abuse. Satanic Ritual Abuse isthe abuse that victims suffer during the rituals of those who worship Satan,Lucifer, or other evil entities. Most people cannot even comprehend thatsomeone would ever want to worship satan or evil entities. Yet, there aremillions of people worldwide who worship these false evil gods. Those whohave reported being abused in SRA, report that they experienced; 1) incest, 2)Child prostitution or pornography, 3) sexual abuse by multiple perpetrators;4) being caged, 5) starvation, 6) bestiality; 7) being burried alive; 8)electroshock; 9) sensory deprivation; 10) sleep depravation; 11) forcedcanibalism, 12) secret government-sponsered mind control experiments. Thus,SRA, Satanic Ritualistic Abuse is the most haneous form of torture known toman. These are all part of Pastor CJ's past. CJ's story is a powerful testament to the transformative power of Jesus' love.Despite her childhood trauma, CJ had never been able to openly share herexperiences with anyone until she met me. She had spent eight years inintensive therapy at Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU), but wasrestricted from discussing the spiritual aspects of her trauma. The therapyfocused on providing coping mechanisms, such as tools for sleep and dealingwith the aftermath of abuse, but it didn't address the root of the issue. CJ'sjourney was one of mere survival, rather than true healing. As CJ and I began to talk, she finally felt comfortable sharing a small part ofher story with someone - a revelation that took her 20 years to share. Herexperiences were a testament to the depth of her trauma and the pain she hadcarried for so long. I remember her saying that she had shared some detailswith people before, but they didn't truly understand the scope of her pain. Shehad been forced to run away from home at 14, and was left alone at 16. CJ'sstory is a powerful reminder that Jesus' love is not just about healing ourwounds, but also about setting us free from the shackles of our past."I S S U E 4 5 S T A R P O W E R INSIGHT FROM PASTOR RICK8

CAN YOU SHARE WITH US THE INSPIRATION BEHIND WRITING 'RESCUED BYLOVE' AND THE MESSAGE YOU HOPE TO CONVEY TO READERS WHO HAVEEXPERIENCED CHILDHOOD TRAUMA?I S S U E 4 5 S T A R P O W E RDuring one of our conversations about CJ’s experiences, I said to CJ, "Honey, thatsounds like SRA, Satanic ritual abuse." She had never heard the term before, andwhen I gave it a label, she thought, maybe there's hope. If there's a name for this, thenmaybe other people have experienced it too. And maybe there's hope. It's been a journey that neither of us could have imagined. CJ has lived through a storythat most people can't imagine. But when I gave her the label "SRA," it was like aweight was lifted off her shoulders. She had cried for the first time about one of themost traumatic experiences - one of the worst rituals. It was like giving her a voice, aname for her pain.CJ's childhood was marked by isolation and abuse, and she was made fun of when shetried to talk to adults or other people for help. Rejection kept happening, and it waseasier to stay quiet and hide. But when we started talking about SRA, she realizedthat she wasn't alone. As we shared our story, we discovered that CJ's spirit had been crying out for Jesussince she was a child. She would listen to Christian songs and attend church with hermom, but no one knew what to do with her experiences. Even though the Bible talksabout similar situations, people didn't know how to help. That's where Rick came in. As a pastor, he had studied the Bible and knewabout the power of God's healing. He didn't say that CJ was too broken or toodamaged; instead, he started researching and learning more about SRA. Hehelped us find a Christian counselor who was also a licensed psychologist. For the first time, CJ felt like she was being heard and understood. Thecounselor said that they knew what Jesus said and what the Bible said, andthey were willing to help us find the healing process. It's been a journey of healing and freedom for CJ. She's no longer imprisonedby the torment of her past. And as we share our story, we want to give hope toothers who may be going through similar experiences. We want other pastorsand church leaders to know that this is real, that this is out there, and thatpeople need help.Jesus said that he came to heal the brokenhearted and set the captives free. And CJ has experienced that freedom firsthand. When we share our story,we're not just sharing our own experiences; we're giving hope to others whoneed it.*FROM PASTOR CJ**FROM PASTOR RICK**FROM PASTOR RICK*

My spirit has always cried out for Jesus, and that was the source of peace. Welearned that through our experiences. We initially met prophetess Taryn Tarver, which marked the beginning ofour healing process. She was helping us with some of the challenges we faced. After that, we went to Bein Health in Georgia, where we spent two weeks. The program allowed us to choose between one or two weeks, but we opted forthe two-week experience.During our stay, we went through different types of deliverance, includingtruth encounters, love encounters, and casting out devils. Each type ofdeliverance serves a specific purpose. We began at Genesis 1 and worked ourway through the scripture, taking breaks every hour to rest and recharge. As I reflected on my experience, I realized that this was what I had beencrying out for all along. However, I was so traumatized that I couldn't evenread the Bible without experiencing severe physical reactions. The traumawas so intense that I would start vomiting whenever I tried to read scripture.People with good intentions would tell me to pray and persevere, but Icouldn't even do that. I would sit there with a bucket and vomit until I passedout, which was a result of the ritualistic programming and demonic influencesthat had been implanted in me.The programming was designed to prevent me from engaging with the wordof God, allowing evil forces to control my thoughts and actions. Sometimes, people would say they fell asleep during church services, but in reality, anoccult spirit was causing fatigue to keep them from responding to the word ofGod.HOW DID YOUR OWN PERSONAL EXPERIENCES OF CHILDHOOD TRAUMASHAPE YOUR JOURNEY TOWARDS HEALING AND RESTORATION, AND HOWHAS YOUR FAITH PLAYED A ROLE IN THAT PROCESS?I S S U E 4 5 S T A R P O W E R*FROM PASTOR CJ*

HOW DID YOUR OWN PERSONAL EXPERIENCES OF CHILDHOOD TRAUMASHAPE YOUR JOURNEY TOWARDS ......... (CONTINUED)I S S U E 4 5 S T A R P O W E RI shared my experiences withRick, but he struggled to believeme because it was difficult for himto comprehend the extent of thetrauma I had endured. Peoplewould accuse me of making falseclaims, but when Rick experiencedsimilar occurrences firsthand, hebegan to understand what I hadbeen going through. The devil is a liar, and his tacticscan be devastating. When peopleare not taught about the truth ofGod's word and its application intheir lives, they can becomevulnerable to spiritual deception.Unfortunately, this is a commonissue in many Western churches, where there is a disconnect betweenthe written word and spiritualexperiences. In some cases, churches focus so heavily on the spiritual side that they neglectthe written word. Conversely, other churches may prioritize the written wordover the spiritual dimension, leading to a lack of balance and understandingin their faith.*FROM PASTOR CJ*1 1

IN WHAT WAYS DO YOU BELIEVE GOD'S UNCONDITIONAL LOVE AND GRACEHAVE PLAYED A PIVOTAL ROLE IN YOUR OWN HEALING AND DELIVERANCEFROM THE DARKNESS OF YOUR PAST?I S S U E 4 5 S T A R P O W E RWhen I think about deliverance, I'm reminded of how scary it can seem tomany people. But when you've experienced it, you realize that it's actually thekindest ministry of God. Before Jesus, there wasn't deliverance. People wouldsacrifice and pray, hoping for relief, but it wasn't until Jesus came and walkedthe earth that they could experience true liberation. For instance, I used to struggle to read the Bible, but after experiencingdeliverance, I can now read the word without any obstacles. It's a testament toGod's love and kindness, just like a father who removes the things that hurt hischildren.I, Rick, met Prophetess Taryn through a mutual friend who had beenattending her home meetings for years. In 2015, I was going through a toughtime in my life, and I attended one of her meetings where she spoke a propheticword over me. It gave me life for six months, and she continued to speak overme for the next 18 months. Her words were like a lifeline, helping me hang onduring a difficult time.Around the same time, CJ was going through a tough period in her life due toher background with abusive churches. She was hesitant to seek help from aprophetess, but Prophetess Taryn got a word for her that was meant to bringhealing. Despite CJ's initial reluctance, Prophetess Taryn flew to Portland onher own dime to deliver the word in person. CJ eventually agreed to meet withTaryn, and when she did, it was a turning point in her life.I remember being hesitant to share Prophetess Taryn's words with CJ at first, but eventually, she agreed to meet with her. When CJ went to see her, it waslike a weight had been lifted off her shoulders. I was proud of her for takingthat step towards healing and freedom.*FROM PASTOR CJ**FROM PASTOR CJ*

IN WHAT WAYS DO YOU BELIEVE GOD'S UNCONDITIONAL LOVE AND GRACEHAVE PLAYED A PIVOTAL ROLE IN YOUR ......I S S U E 4 5 S T A R P O W E ROne of the most powerful stories in our book is about my stepfather, whobecame a fatherly figure in my life. When I was 40 years old, he called me andsaid he had discovered that he could adopt people up to the age of 40. He askedif I would be willing to adopt him as well, and change my last name to his. Itwas a moment of great significance, as I was legally adopted by him at the ageof 40.This act of adoption was more than just a legal change; it was a spiritualdeclaration that I was no longer defined by my past. The Lord was saying thatI was no longer the daughter of a monster, but a new creation with a newidentity. It was a powerful reminder that our identity is not defined by ourpast, but by our relationship with God.As we grew closer, I began to see the love and compassion of my stepfather, who had become a rock for me. My mom met him when she was in high school, and they had plans to get married. But the enemy intervened, and she endedup marrying my biological father instead. Despite this, my stepfather remaineda constant presence in my life, always speaking well of my mom and her newhusband., When I was 18, my mom and stepfather got married, and he legallyadopted me at the age of 40.This experience taught me that God is always at work, answering our prayersand changing our circumstances. It showed me that even in the darkestmoments, there is always hope for healing and redemption.CJ's life was marked by a period of great struggle, as she battled illness and feltabandoned by God. She was bedridden for nine months, feeling weak andhelpless. But even in those moments, I was there for her, carrying her up stairsand pushing her through airports in a wheelchair. It was during this time that CJ began to realize that her faith was being tested, and that she needed to rely on God's strength rather than her own. Overtimeshe began to experience miraculous healings, including the removal of chronicinflammation and the loss of over 40 pounds. It was a moment of pure joy and celebration, as CJ walked 2.5 miles withoutany problems and enjoyed a plate of fajitas...The simple things!!! It was areminder that God is always at work in our lives, bringing us healing andrestoration when we need it most.*FROM PASTOR CJ**FROM PASTOR RICK*

Page 15

I share all of this to explain that the enemy works very hard to keep victims aloneand without support. CJ does not enjoy sharing the experiences she survived. But she does it becauseher story is one of miraculous healing which brings hope. Thus, the importance ofsharing her testimony. CAN YOU PROVIDE SOME INSIGHT INTO THE IMPORTANCE OF SHARINGYOUR EXPERIENCE AND TESTIMONY WITH OTHERS WHO MAY BESTRUGGLING WITH CHILDHOOD TRAUMA, AND HOW YOU HOPE TO OFFERHOPE AND ENCOURAGEMENT THROUGH YOUR BOOK?Cj suffered for years alone. One of the enemy's major tools is to keep us feelingfull of shame, broken beyond repair, different from others, etc. Whatever lie,he needs to keep us alone. Because of the level of trauma that CJ experienced, most people could not or would not believe her. In fact, for the first 15 yearsof her life, NO ONE would believe her. Not the police, not the teachers atschool, not the leaders at the church, not even her mom. It wasn't until sheattended a camp at age 13. After chapel one night she dared to tell the campspeaker, evangelist Mike Miller. Mike believed her. But struggled for years toget any authority to act to protect her. The sad truth is that those whopractice SRA and other forms of demonic worship practices, are people ofprestige and power. In CJ's community, the leaders in the court system, thepolice system, the medical system, and the school system, were all members ofthe occult that was torturing her. And they were committed to protectingeach other. Second, in the original Hebrewlanguage, the word for testimonycarries with it the idea that themiracle is being reactivated again.Every time we share a testimony ofGod intervening into our life, we arereactivating that miracle so that itcan happen again. Every time CJshares her testimony, she is bringingglory to the Lord, AND she isreactivating that same healing, miraculous power into the ears ofthose who can hear her. Sharingtestimony is super powerful. I S S U E 4 5 S T A R P O W E R*FROM PASTOR RICK*

FOR INDIVIDUALS WHO MAY FEEL OVERWHELMED BY THEIR PASTEXPERIENCES AND ARE SEEKING HEALING, WHAT SPECIFIC STEPS ORRESOURCES WOULD YOU RECOMMEND IN ORDER TO BEGIN THEIRJOURNEY TOWARDS RESTORATION AND WHOLENESS IN CHRIST?First, Dare to believe that God really does want to heal you. EVERYONE weknow who has experienced SRA or other forms of trauma, has prayed andbegged God to intervene in the pain they were going through. But seeminglyGod did not help in the way they hoped for. When that happened, the enemysowed the lie into their thoughts that God could not help them, or that Godhated them or rejected them for some reason, or that they were too evil, toobroken, too far gone, or any other number of lies. BUT THOSE ARE ALL LIES FROM HELL! The people who have experienced this level of torture have faced the worstthat mankind has to offer them. Many times they have given up on God, orgiven up on people to help them. We realize that it is a huge ask to encouragethem to try to trust God. But it is an important first step. Scripture promises, ask and it will be given, seek and you will find, knock and the door will beopened. Jesus was outlining the tenacity that it sometimes takes. I S S U E 4 5 S T A R P O W E RThe answer to that question would require a whole book. But I will share acouple of things that I hope will be helpful. Second, look for people to help you. This is extremely hard. Until Iwalked with CJ through her healingprocess, I had NEVER seen a churchthat knew how to help those who havebeen abused like this. Now we havefound a number of places that willhelp. They are lised on our web page. When someone is searching for help, the first thing they need to look for arepeople who are compassionate.Healing from this level of pain andabuse takes time. You need coaches ormentors who are filled with love andcompassion to walk with you throughall the pain. Finally, I would say, look for peoplewho have actually gone through thishealing process themselves. I'mguessing that you could walkthrough this all by yourself. But it isa whole lot easier to have someonehelp you who has walked through itbefore. There are thousands of greatchurches, ministries, counselors, etc.But not every church, ministry orcounselor will be able to help you. Itis wise to seek people who havepractical experience. *FROM PASTOR CJ**FROM PASTOR RICK*1 6

Faith is believing. What do you believe about Spiritual warfare? My questionis, what do you believe about the devil? Do you believe that he is real? Thathe has a demonic army working for him? Do you believe that they attackpeople? If so, how do they attack us? The answer to all of these questions willdetermine your level of success. Paul writes in 2 Cor 2:11 "... so that Satan will not outsmart us. For we arefamiliar with his evil schemes." (NLT)How familiar are you with the enemy's schemes? Even though I, Rick, was a pastor for 35 years before I met CJ, I have been to4 years of Bible College, preached hundreds of sermons, read the bible coverto cover multiple times, studied the original Greek and Hebrew, etc. I wasvirtually clueless on the "SCHEME" that the enemy uses to trick, trap, andtorment people. Today, when we work with people on their healing journey, faith and thehard earned knowledge of how the enemy attacks, and what tools he uses inspiritual warfare are vital pieces in our tool bag. CAN YOU SPEAK TO THE ROLE THAT FAITH AND SPIRITUAL WARFARE PLAY INYOUR MINISTRY'S EFFORTS TO BRING HEALING AND RESTORATION TOINDIVIDUALS WHO HAVE BEEN AFFECTED BY SRA AND OTHER FORMS OFDEMONIC ACTIVITY?FOR THOSE WHO MAY HAVE NEVER ENCOUNTERED OR EXPERIENCED THEREALITY OF DEMONIC ACTIVITY AND SPIRITUAL WARFARE, WHAT ADVICE ORINSIGHT WOULD YOU OFFER FOR BETTER UNDERSTANDING AND ENGAGING INTHIS ASPECT OF THE CHRISTIAN FAITH AND MINISTRY WORK? First, I am thrilled that they have not experienced the trauma and torment ofdemonic attacks. I would not wish those experiences on anyone. One of theamazing things I look forward to in heaven is that we will no longerexperience evil attacking us. But the sobering truth from my experience isthat everyone I know has experienced demonic attack at some form oranother in the form of divorce, disease, or premature death. We have allexperienced demonic attacks. We just did not know it was the devil because itis so common. I S S U E 4 5 S T A R P O W E RSecond, I want to encourage people to focus on the Red letters in the NewTestament. Jesus had a lot to say about the reality of demons and thedemonic realm. Deliverance was something that Jesus encouraged us to prayabout daily. Have you read the Lord's prayer? Our Father, in heaven . . . andlead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US from the evil one." One of thekey pieces Jesus taught us to pray daily was for deliverance. I believe thatevery believer needs to continually look into their heart to see where evil hasinfluenced them, and then to drive it out, to get delivered from it, before ittakes root and becomes a stronghold. *FROM PASTOR RICK**FROM PASTOR CJ*

Page 18

The demonic has existed since the creation of man inGenesis 3 where Satan tempts Eve to sin. The demonicis dealt with in virtually every book of the Bible. In the Revelation of the Christ, the demonic isdescribed in vast details; a great dragon, bottomless pitopened up and demons set free, demons like frogs orscorpions, etc. I believe that the closer we get to theLord's return, the more overt demonic activity allbelievers will encounter. I could easily make a case that demons are more overtlyactive right now. From the torment of the people whoare caught up in the homeless crisis in our country, tothe street drugs (Pharmakia) that are being dumpedonto our streets causing people to act like zombies, tothe demonic way that Hezbollah brutally raped andkilled the Israelites. Demonic activity is everywherearound us. Our encouragement is that Jesus is the victor. And forthose who have learned about the schemes of the enemy, they will be able to walk in freedom and help others getand stay free. Here is another section to read. Luke 9:1, "One dayJesus called together his twelve apostles and gavethem power and authority to cast out demons and toheal all diseases." Jesus gave his committed followersthe power and authority to cast out demons. Next read Luke 10:17. Jesus chose 72 othercommitted followers and gave them the same jobassignment. Go to different communities and preach, heal, and help people get set free. Luke 10:17 "Whenthe seventy-two disciples returned, they joyfullyreported to him, "Lord, even the demons obey uswhen we use your name!" Defeating demonic forceswas common to those first believers. Finally, read Mark's description of the greatcommission. Mark 16:15, 17. "Go into all the worldand preach the Good News to everyone, everywhere. .. 17 These signs will accompany those who believe. They will cast out demons in my name . . ." I S S U E 4 5 S T A R P O W E RFOR THOSE WHO MAY HAVE NEVER ENCOUNTERED OREXPERIENCED THE REALITY OF DEMONIC ACTIVITY ANDSPIRITUAL WARFARE, WHAT ADVICE OR INSIGHT WOULDYOU OFFER FOR BETTER UNDERSTANDING AND ENGAGING INTHIS ASPECT OF THE CHRISTIAN FAITH AND MINISTRYWORK? *FROM PASTOR RICK*1 8

When did your love for branding anddesign begin? In my early days of producing events Ifell in love with the process of telling astory with beauty and clarity. What inspires your creativity and whohas been your biggest inspiration? God is my biggest inspiration. I don'ttmean to sound cliche by saying that, itis 100% true. I S S U E 4 5 S T A R P O W E RLMEETLESLIEPEREZMy name is Leslie Perez, and I'm a multifacetedindividual - an actress, educator, mentor, and theowner of Hey Lez TravelTravel Agency. But beyondthese titles, I am first andforemost a Child of God.As a believer, I've come tounderstand the profoundimpact that purpose canhave on one's life. Whenyou're aware of yourpurpose, you're able tosurrender to the will ofGod, allowing Him toguide you with a passionthat transcends your ownabilities. It's an incredible feelingto know that you're beingused by God to executesomething bigger thanyourself, something thatwill ultimately reach themasses and bring glory toHis kingdom. The thought of Godentrusting me with giftsand talents that will drawothers to Him and Hiskingdom is a source ofconstant inspiration andamazement. It's areminder that I'm not justliving for myself, but for ahigher purpose - to serveas a vessel for God's loveand light to shine through. 4 3

The journey is troublesome, and it's tempting to come acrossas difficult or insubordinate. But with a pure heart, I say thatyou can't compromise on what you believe. You have to standon what you trust, and for me, that's knowing that withoutcompromise, my success is already written.PWith a selfless heart, I'vealways been driven to serve.Whether it's taking centerstage, in front of the camera,or leading workshops, mypurpose has been two-fold.Through acting, I've not onlyhad the privilege ofconnecting with people on adeeper level through the artof storytelling, but I've alsobeen able to foster a sense ofservitude. I've served thosewho may have been unawareof their own stories, unawareof their own struggles andtriumphs. I've served thosewho, at their core, couldrelate to the characters Iportray, giving them a voicethat resonates deep within.I've had to decline opportunities that didn't align with my beliefs, even when itseemed like a career-defining moment. But I've learned that what's for me isfor me, and I won't compromise or mock the word of God. I keep in mind thatGod didn't promise me certain things, so I don't have to fear what I know Hedidn't promise me.It's scary to be passionate about your craft while being sensitive to the HolySpirit. There's a pressure to conform to the standards of the industry, but I'velearned to trust God's vision and understanding of the end game. As an artist, Iwant to represent different demographics and shine a light on their stories, but ultimately, salvation can depend on it.As I navigate theentertainmentindustry, I've come tounderstand that myfaith is not just apersonal conviction, but a vital part of mycreative journey. Thetemptation to conformand compromise isever-present, but I'velearned to trust Godand prioritize myvalues. I believe thatwhen you knowbetter, you do better, and if God says no,then the answer is no.I've come to understand that the rooms and tables are already set for me, and I'm just enjoying the ride toeach destination. If I could encourage anyone embarking on this journey with purpose, I'd tell them tocount it all joy and keep going. Don't let the pressure to conform discourage you – trust God's vision, andknow that your success is already written.4 4

WHY ISHEALINGSO HARD?A R E V I E W O F R A P P E R J E E Z Y A N D A C T R E S SN I A L O N G ’ S C O N V E R S A T I O N , “ I M I G H TF O R G I V E … B U T I D O N ’ T F O R G E T ” Rapper Jay “Jeezy” Jenkins is a pioneer ofmainstream trap music, a subgenre of rap music thatcenters around selling drugs, gang life, and survivalof the fittest in the mean, non-touristy streets ofAtlanta, GA. Starting his rap career in 2001 under themoniker Lil J, Jenkins didn’t hit mainstream until2003, under the new moniker Young Jeezy. Fromthere, his career skyrocketed. In 2013, he droppedYoung and has since been known as Jeezy. Although short-lived, Jenkins made headlines in2021 with his marriage to celebrity talk show hostJeannie Mai. In 2023, Jenkins made headlines againwhen he filed for divorce. Rumors of infidelityquickly spread with no concrete evidence to supportthe claim. Jenkins and Mai went to social mediarequesting that fans respect their privacy. Holding on to the street mentality of do or die whileconstantly in the public eye with unhealed hurts,masking his childhood trauma and a host of celebritypains, kept him guarded and made his heart cold.Yet, he pressed ahead and, in 2023, published hisNew York Times Bestseller, Adversity for Sale: YaGotta Believe.I S S U E 4 5 S T A R P O W E Rby Tonya T.Writing Waves

On his book tour, Jenkins surprised fans witha sidebar conversation with actress Nia Longon his YouTube channel titled I MightForgive … But I Never Forget. Long madeheadlines late last year when her engagementto then, Boston Celtics Head Coach ImeUdoka ended due to infidelity. Fans swiftlylistened as Jenkins and Long discussed theirhurts and healings. The editing for this video was odd andjumped around. It wasn’t a seamless view atall. Odd! Towards the end, Jenkins gives Longher proverbial flowers when he tells her,“You’re America’s sweetheart. … You don’tknow that? … I wanted to have thisconversation with you because I wanted topersonally tell you that you embody what awell-minded, grown-ass, Black woman issupposed to be like, and we stand with youalways.” I think this should have been at or towardsthe beginning, yet I understand why theysaved it for the end.He goes on to explain, "And the reason why Iwanted to talk to you is because you are mysister and this is a safe space for me to saywhat I needed to say. Because, at times whenwe are at our lowest, we need our sistahs! Justlike you guys need your brothas! And that’swhy this conversation was so real because Ihope and I pray that this conversation canopen up different conversations in ourculture about being there for each other andnot being at odds with each other no matterwhat we’ve been through.” WHY NIA LONG?WHY ISHEALINGSO HARD?(CONT.)6 0

“Train up a child in the way he should go,and when he is old, he will not depart fromit,” - Proverbs 22:6. Jenkins opens thediscussion with reflections on hisgrandmother being religious and raisinghim in the church. He laughed whilereminiscing about Sunday School andEaster speeches and said, "I didn’t realize itthen … but it came to some points in mylife where things just happened that wereso real that there was nowhere to go butwith God.” Molestation from a babysitter. After watching the man pull the gun from the bedroom closet, heheard an attempted murder while hiding under the bathroom sink.Never felt love, compassion, or acceptance from his mother because helooked like his father. Father said he’d never love another woman again, and Jenkinsaccepted that fate for himself.“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear noevil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me,” - Psalm23:4. Jenkins said, “... at eight years old, I was already desensitized.” Along withso many other issues in his childhood life, by the time he was 13/14, hedisconnected from his family and found love in the streets.A F T E R T H I S R E V E L A T I O N , H E D E L V E S I N T O F O U RT R A U M A T I C E X P E R I E N C E S O F H I S E X T R E M E L Y T O X I CC H I L D H O O D :“The Lord is near to the heartbroken and He saves those who are crushed inspirit (contrite in heart, truly sorry for their sin,” - Psalm 34:18.) Later, Jenkinsmentions being in a boot camp as opposed to a juvenile detention centerwhere he got his GED, learned life skills, and it was his first time being awayfrom his environment. It propelled him to see a different life for himself andamp up his hustle. Upon his release, he was back in the streets with a plan toearn money for his record label. When that didn’t pan out, paired with hisdetermination to leave the streets for good, he became a rapper. WHY ISHEALINGSO HARD?(CONT.)I S S U E 4 5 S T A R P O W E R

HE SAYS, “YEAH, YOU CAN’T!” “I am leaving you with a gift - peace of mind and heart! And the peace I give isn’t fragile likethe peace the world gives. So don’t be troubled or afraid,” - John 14:27. Since 2014, Jenkins’ self-healing journey has granted him peace that passes understanding and he often mentionedhaving love instead of fear, and moving in love vs. fear. In 2021, Jenkins’ mom passed awaywithout him being able to hear, “I’m proud of you,” or “I apologize,” or, “I love you.” He talksabout writing a letter, going to her gravesite, and reading it to her. Later, he mentions a visionhe had during meditation where he asked his mother to forgive him for not “sending her offright.” “Now acquaint yourself with Him, and be at peace; Thereby good will come to you,” - Job22:21. Jenkins is a premiere investor in spirits and real estate. He also has a new album comingout that’s titled the same as this conversation. In an interview with Angie Martinez, she asked, “... inyour life like today, how happy are you on a scale of 1 - 10?” He said, “I would say a 9.” Sheasked him what he prayed about and he said, “Peace and my family.” Going back to his conversation with Long, Jenkins’ said, “God has put me [on] a different path, and what that path is going to entail for me to take care of myself and to love myself and to bein the best situation that I can thrive as someone who’s been through all the things I’ve beenthrough.” Long says, “It’s kind of something where you can’t explain it.” From 2001 - 2014, Jenkins wasliving fun and wrong. “I got analbum out that’s doing well, I’mgoing around the world andI’m at war losing friends leftand right.” He was drinkingCrystyle and eating WaffleHouse for breakfast. He hadpeople attempting to kill him.He lost his vocal cords and paidfor the surgery with a brownpaper bag because he didn’thave insurance or a bankaccount. He got hit with Bell'sPalsy, among so many othertraumas he faced. Eachsituation had him back upunder the sink in fear with hisguard up in survival mode. “Come to me, all you who areweary and burdened, and I willgive you rest,” - Matthew 11:28.Eventually, Jenkins brings uphis 2014 two-week jail stint inCalifornia where he waswrongfully arrested. He thendiscusses how that downtimeallowed him to think aboutwhere he wanted to go with hiscareer, and what he wanted todo as a man and a father. Afterpaying $10M to bail out 10people, he learned while hewas in, none of his loved oneschecked on his children. It wasthis situation that prompted hisself-healing journey.
