REGION 2 MDWG MAGAZINE QUARTERLY EDITION From A Pastors Wife Written By 1st Lady E Maria Lashley And let us not be weary in well doing for in due season we shall reap if we faint not Gal 6 9 From an early age there was a calling on my life At the tender age of 5 I was baptized in Jesus Name At the tender age of 5 I received the Gift of the Holy Ghost speaking in other tongues as the spirit of God gave utterance I have fond memories of visiting the sick and shut in with my mom At an early age my mom showed me how to love others in need While at home and even on vacation we often visited family and friends who were sick sheltered in or lonely The Lord s hands were truly upon my life What did The Lord have planned for me For I know the plans I have for you declares the LORD plans to prosper you and not to harm you plans to give you hope and a future Then you will call on me and come and pray to me and I will listen to you You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart Jer 29 11 13 Little did I know I would one day become the Wife of a Pastor As my husband s helpmate his calling from God would be my calling as well And the LORD God said It is not good that the man should be alone I will make him an help meet for him Gen 2 18 What would this consecrated calling require of me I grew up admiring Pastor s Wives I looked upon them fondly recognizing their grace beauty holiness and various abilities Would I be that admirable wife that holy wife that help meet I strived to have those attributes and more I found that those attributes could only manifest with the help of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and my commitment to Him and the work of The Lord My commitment would include much prayer much fasting and much confidence in God and myself It might include less confidence in man The position of Pastor s Wife is often met with much joy and congratulations during the ordination ceremony What happens after the ordination service What happens when you must pray pray pray as the word comes forth from your Man your Pastor God s Man Yes he is God s Man First I m reminded of a time when The Lord let me know that my husband belonged to the people What did that mean I immediately knew that I would be giving of my husband and I could not in any way hold him back It would be my husband s job to cover me assure me love on me as he loved the People of God My job would be to pray for and hold up My Pastor My Husband My Leader I would not be weary in well doing I know the Lord would mold me and keep me in due season www redbubble com As my husband s helpmate his calling from God would be my calling as well And the LORD God said It is not good that the man should be alone I will make him an help meet for him Gen 2 18 Lady E Marie Lashley CHURCH OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST OF THE APOSTOLIC FAITH INC REGION 2 MINISTERS DEACONS WIVES GUILD

REGION 2 MDWG MAGAZINE QUARTERLY EDITION From A Deacons Wife Written By Sis Barbara Graves 1st Timothy 3 11 Even so must their wives be grave not slanderers sober faithful in all things Grace and peace unto you all I am Sister Barbara Graves of the Greater Refuge Temple of the Manhattan Diocese I am married to Deacon Edward Graves We have been married for 35 years and he has been a deacon at the Temple for the past 25 years and a member of the Brotherhood Choir I am not only a deacon s wife I am also president of the Voice of The Temple Radio Choir secretary of the Pastor s Cabinet member of the GRT Mass Choir and chairwoman of the Pastor s Birthday Committee To say that a deacon s wife plays a vital role in her husband s ministry is an understatement she is also an encouragement as well I ve learned that since he became a deacon he devotes a copious amount of time to the church When everyone else has left the building including the pastor with the exception of the maintenance men the deacons and their wives are the last to leave I ve learned that patience is really a virtue you must have A deacon and his wife must form a partnership with the use of their gifts interests and resources to aid in the ministry of the church When your husband become deacon like it or not the wife is also elevated to a position in the church where more is expected of her It involves her in whatever capacity she may be needed As the wife of a deacon I must show self respect in my conduct and respect to others and be serious about his calling Be reliable by being faithful in all things so that others may see that you rely on God and those he has placed in authority over you in leading the church One thing I am sure of we need to continue to grow spiritually to minister effectively Our daily Bible Study and prayer is essential But please remember all of this is only done by God s grace and His direction God bless you Deacons Wife Journal This Inspirational Christian Notebook and Journal is the perfect Deacon s Wife Appreciation gift The cover is a scripture inspirational bible quote The pages are lightly lined perfect for prayers gratitude notes planning lists devotionals meditations and thoughts CHURCH OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST OF THE APOSTOLIC FAITH INC REGION 2 MINISTERS DEACONS WIVES GUILD

REGION 2 MDWG MAGAZINE QUARTERLY EDITION Preachers Kids Deacons Kids Sis Maya Shaw PK Kid My parents often joke that as a newborn they brought me to Church held me over the altar and said this is your life When I received the Holy Ghost in 2009 this is your life took on a whole new meaning for me As a PK I developed a heart for people and to be honest there were are moments when I feel like giving up but I can t because my purpose is to serve God in any way that I can for all He has done for me Being a Preachers kid has given me a front row seat to the different roles in ministry as well as deep study into the word of God From a young age being exposed to the different opportunities in ministry it helped me learn things I wouldn t have learned easily identify what roles were connected to my purpose and how to walk operate in it Being raised by people who study teach the word taught me how to find Gods direction from his word as well as follow the leading of the spirit Lastly the skills wisdom I learned from my parents other preachers and their wives they are connected to are priceless and have heavily influenced my intentional walk with God to live in my purpose Zoe Alexis Michael PK Kid CHURCH OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST OF THE APOSTOLIC FAITH INC REGION 2 MINISTERS DEACONS WIVES GUILD

A Widow s Testimony BY ELECT LADY CHARLOTTE JOHNSON I would like to greet you in the name of Jesus Christ My name is Elect Lady Charlotte Johnson I am the widow of the late Bishop Stanley Johnson He was the Pastor of Redeeming Fire Ministries of Niagara Falls New York I am now a member of Rhema Temple of Christ under the leadership of Bishop Gordon Sweat of Niagara Falls New York I would like to take this opportunity to express myself about being a widow I will be coming from the scripture of 1 Timothy 5 3 Honour widows that are widows indeed Many of us read the Scripture but we do not do what it says to do We must think about a woman who has been married for a few years and then her husband dies her life has taken a dramatic turn There are so many little things in life that she now must do for herself take care of her home children and car and handle household duties She may or may not be able to handle these things on her own As a widow I feel it s very important for us to take care of our widows Here are a few thoughts on how this can be done send cards phone calls and birthday cards pray for them take them out to eat or just spend time with them and in the winter shovel their snow if they don t drive offer to take them where they need to go Being a widow can become very lonely Sometimes a lot of us will go into depression We just need support I pray this encourages your heart by reading Rightfully Submitted by Elect Lady Charlotte Johnson

Serving As A Non Pastors Wife MISSIONARY SHEILA H CRISS Greeting in the matchless name Lord Jesus Christ our soon coming King My name is Missionary Sheila H Criss a member of the Manhattan Diocese I am the wife of District Elder Samuel L Criss Sr who is District Elder of the Leeward Island Diocese and the President of the Greater Refuge Temple Global Mission Department I am the Assistant Captain of Group 3 Greater Refuge Temple Missionary Board and truly enjoy the missionary services on first Sunday also the Monday and Tuesday prayer meetings First and foremost when God calls a man to preach the gospel he also selects a wife for him This is a divine calling by God Mark 10 8 says and they two shall become one flesh so they are no longer two but one flesh Elder Criss and I were united in marriage on September 02 1995 In this union we are blessed with twins Samuel L Criss Jr and Julia Priscilla Criss Samuel Jr is a Mechanical Engineer and Julia has her Master in Criminal Justice and pursuing a position in this field and they two shall become one flesh so they are no longer two but one flesh MARK 10 8 Our most cherished scripture is Proverbs 22 6 A family that prays together stays together As a preacher s wife I spend a great deal of my time caring for my family and praying for God s direction and blessings in our lives I pray for our Pastor Asst Pastor and Auxiliary Leaders to be led by the Holy Spirit in leading guiding and instructing His sheep As Samuel spends time in prayer preparing his sermons I am on my knees praying that God gives him a word from heaven to give to His people in Jesus name We began working in the foreign field in 1996 with the late Bishop and Mother Emmlo Winningham We have worked with Apostle James I Clark Jr the late Bishop and Mother Henry Anderson the late Bishop William Cramer Apostle and Mother Samuel Peters the late Mother Dorothy Anderson and the late Missionary Sylvia Biel We are currently serving under Apostle and Lady Ronnie Parsons and Bishop and Lady Reginald Davis with the Leeward Island Diocese LID The LID is presently inclusive of the Dominican Republic St Lucia St Kitts and Grenada Continued on the next page

Serving As A Non Pastors Wife Page 2 MISSIONARY SHEILA H CRISS Elder Criss and I have also traveled and ministered in Barbados Antigua and St Croix We enjoyed traveling with our twins to the foreign field teaching them the importance of giving helping and caring for souls who are in need of spiritual and physical blessing Through the years along with the team we have been blessed to bring food clothing Bibles tracts and share the gospel of Jesus Christ baptizing souls in the rivers the sea and ocean helping financially to renovate buy and build churches Oh what blessed experiences in the work of the Lord We recently traveled to the Dominican Republic and were able to see the continued work being done in the four churches there and how the labor of those who have gone home to be with the Lord continues The church in Villar Pando still stands strong but needs renovation of bathrooms as well as the Mother Dorothy Anderson Park The children who were once running around naked now have suitable clothing sent from the States Missionary Gail Lea Christ Temple and Elder Criss Refuge Temple NY At Greater Refuge Temple New York where Bishop Charles E Wright Sr is our Pastor and Mother Faye Wright our First Lady we conduct an all night prayer via telephone conference monthly We also provide tracts to the Saints to distribute to reach souls for the Kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ We love working with the souls on the altar during noonday services at the temple Elder Criss is assigned to preach the gospel at the noonday prayer service on Fridays and I sit attentively praying for God s blessings as he preaches and encourages the saints and seekers He conducts the 12 noon prayer via telephone conference on Tuesdays and ministers on the Friday evening 7 00 Zoom services as requested We also conduct the Thursday evening Global Mission Prayer service via telephone 857 799 9399 conference which is scheduled for 4 pm 5 pm but goes until 6 30 pm sometimes as the Spirit of the Lord moves During the service the saints testify of how the Lord has healed and delivered them singing and praying until heaven comes down to earth Continued on the next page We love working with the souls on the altar during noonday services at the temple Elder Criss is assigned to preach the gospel at the noonday prayer service on Fridays and I sit attentively praying for God s blessings as he preaches and encourages the saints and seekers

Serving As A Non Pastors Wife Page 3 MISSIONARY SHEILA H CRISS We visit the sick and shut in the sick in hospitals and nursing homes praying for their souls to be saved and for their physical recovery I recall our going onto the Covid Unit in Charleston SC to pray and anoint my cousin and the Lord kept the pestilence away from us even in the midst of it Psalm 91 7 says A thousand shall fall at thy side and ten thousand at thy right hand but it shall not come nigh thy dwelling Glory As a Registered Physician Assistant PA since 1986 I have spent many years treating the underprivileged in Community Health and Prison Health I have shared the Gospel of Jesus Christ with many persons in prison and the community telling them about the love of Jesus Christ As a result of sharing the gospel many souls came to Christ Elder Criss who is a Registered Professional Nurse and I also work with the health care team while on the foreign field instructing on health care issues that affect that particular area being visited Along with the health care team we distribute soap deodorant toothbrushes toothpaste hand sanitizer masks etc which are much needed in some areas God has called us into ministry and I never forget that my husband is the head of our home and that he is a minister chosen by God I am called to be my husband s helpmeet helper God has called us into ministry and I never forget that my husband is the head of our home and that he is a minister chosen by God I am called to be my husband s helpmeet helper according to Genesis 2 18 Knowing our place according to the bible helps our marriage to grow stronger each and every day in Jesus name Prayer is the key and faith unlocks the door in our lives Therefore we will continue to pray together without ceasing in Jesus name It is a blessing and pleasure to serve God bless Missionary Sheila H Criss
