Competency 1:1● Make ethical decisions by applying the standards of the NASW Code of Ethics, relevant laws and regulations, model for ethical decision-making, ethical conduct of research, and additional codes of ethics as appropriate to context.
Relevant Activities or Tasks and Outcomes● Student will revive her memory on all Code of Ethics as they may be applied to different aspects of working with clients. ● Student will apply the Code of Ethics for ethical decision making and ethical conduct of research. ● Student will make themselves familiar with the policies of DSS● I have added the NASW Code of Ethics to my mobile device for easy reference. ● I have read and understood the Johnston County code of conduct which includes different policies.
Competency 1:2Use reflection and self-regulation to manage personal values and maintain professionalism in practice settings
Relevant activities or tasks and Outcomes● Student will reflect on her work week and day to day work seeing the pros and cons of each day and the interactions with clients and colleagues. ● Student will strive to be professional at all times● After each day, I reflect on how the day went and if there are areas where I need to make adjustments or bring up concerns to my task instructor, colleagues, or supervisor.
Competency 1:3Demonstrate professional demeanor in behavior; appearance; and oral, written, and electronic communication.
Relevant activities or tasks and Outcomes● Student will ensure that she’s following the agency’s dress code as she is a representation of a company and clients are watching. ● Student will make sure she is talking in a acceptable manner to the professional setting, as well as in other forms of communication (emails, meeting chats). ● I have familiarized myself with the agency’s dress code as to what is acceptable and what is not acceptable. ● I treat everyone with respect and as I want to be treated.
Competency 1:4Use technology ethically and appropriately to facilitate practice outcomes.
Relevant activities or tasks and Outcomes● Intern will educate herself on the agency’s policy when it comes to using the Internet during work.● Intern will refrain from using her personal devices in any way that may affect the agency or cause her to get in any trouble. ● I do not discuss or post private information surrounding a client with friends, family, or social media apps. ● I am aware of what I look up on the Internet while at my agency.
Competency 1:5Use supervision and consultation to guide professional judgement and behavior.
Relevant activities or tasks and Outcomes● Student will ask her supervisor or task instructor questions when she is unsure.● Using the different forms around her to determine what resources are best for a client. ● Student will meet with supervisor weekly to discuss any concerns, comments, etc. ● I consult with my supervisor and task instructor when I feel the need to do so. ● I have a packet of resources available depending on the situation for a client.
