Community Hospital of San Bernardino Medical Dialogue 3First Robotic Procedures Performed at CHSBAvinash Chenam, MD Medical Director, Robotic Surgery ProgramWe’re pleased to announce rst-of-its kind accomplishments at Community Hospital. Since acquiring da Vinci Xi® Robotic Surgery, we’ve provided many benecial minimally-invasive procedures to our patients. In March, I was pleased to perform the rst-ever robotic procedure, a robotic partial nephrectomy using our new da Vinci Xi. On April , Bharti Jain, MD, Vice Chair of Surgery, performed the rst-ever general robotic surgery, a cholecystectomy. And, on April , Amir Azar, MD, Surgical Oncologist, performed a hemicolectomy, the rst-ever robotic colon resection.Moving forward, surgeons at Community Hospital will continue to use this technology to treat a wide variety of medical conditions across a multitude of surgical specialties, including general surgery, colorectal, gynecology, and urology. The da Vinci Xi Robot single console system features immersive D-HD visualization and allows surgeons to perform delicate operations with great precision but requiring only tiny incisions. Unique to the da Vinci Xi version is the ability for surgeons to go into multiple quadrants with new arms designed to work in  degrees--something highly advantageous for complex procedures. The enhanced technology allows for magnication and superior visual clarity of tissue and anatomy, which increases safety and accuracy. By avoiding the large incisions of open surgery, robotic surgery helps avoid many post-surgical complications while speeding the patient’s recovery. If you are interested in registering for robotic surgery training, please contact our Intuitive Representative, Kelsey Covington at kelsey.covington@intusurg.com or  -.
