What s it like to be a Collegian The four marks of the Collegium describe our unique culture It is my sincere desire and prayerful wish that the Collegium Sanctorum Angelorum be always guided protected and defended by the Holy Angels The Collegium is a little light in the darkness Yet many little lights will by time and with the help of God s grace dispel the darkness and many snowdrops and little spring flowers will bring the true spring a spring which will be realized only when man will again live according to the law given by God through nature natural law and according to His Divine Revelation transmitted by the Catholic Church the only way of salvation I invoke upon the Collegium upon its students and professors upon all different members of the staff and of the community as well upon the benefactors abundant Divine blessings The Most Reverend Athanasius Schneider Deum n scere Deum am re We are first and foremost an academic institution Students will be engaged in a classical liberal arts curriculum that emphasizes Thomistic theology and philosophy history literature Latin music and art Cant te D mino Vespers and Lauds will be sung daily The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass will be available on Sundays Holy Days and major feasts as a start The Masses are normally sung Masses Students with musical skills will have opportunities to advance those skills and use them in the service of the Lord In mundo sed non mundi The Collegium will promote a contemplative atmosphere Students will have opportunities to spend time quietly anchoring themselves spiritually to better engage the world Ora et lab ra Students will also work in the Collegium s auxiliary business Heavenly Roast Coffee and the Collegium s corporate work study program thereby gaining both the spiritual benefits of work and practical business experience and skill
The Curriculum The Collegium offers a liberal arts curriculum which in its entirety and in every detail is faithful to Catholic teaching The theology courses not religious studies courses are rooted in Scripture and Tradition and faithful to the Magisterium of the Church Our curriculum not only prepares students for life equipping them to be informed thoughtful and productive members of society but most importantly it prepares students for heaven helping them to grow in wisdom and virtue Our curriculum prepares students for careers It gives students the skills that employers are seeking such as self direction the ability to think independently to communicate effectively to problem solve and to work well on a team Spiritual Life Traditional Latin Mass Sung Lauds and Vespers daily Sung grace before and after meals Perpetual adoration chapel The Rosary
Our Campus Our campus is located in downtown Hagerstown Maryland Everything is within a 3 block area on the main street of downtown Housing and dining are in the Hamilton Building classes are in the University System of Maryland at Hagerstown building and Mass the Divine Office and perpetual adoration are at St Mary s Catholic Church Hagerstown MD Small friendly community Close to Baltimore and Washington DC Close to five national parks The National Shrine of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton is nearby The National Shrine Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes is nearby
Music at the Collegium While no one is required to be a musician to attend the Collegium offers unique opportunities for students who wish to use their musical talents and optionally to continue musical study We offer music courses that are focused on the musical patrimony of the Church and sung Office and Mass are under the direction of a leading authority on chant and sacred polyphony Ora et Lab ra The curriculum spiritual life and work experience are all integrated Students give 8 hours of service each week Some of that service may be running Heavenly Roast Coffee or in the Collegium s corporate work study program
