French PressSiphon PotAlthough it's called the French press, there's a debate about whether itoriginated in France or Italy. It's beenaround since about 1950. With the Frenchpress, you pour hot water over coarsecoffee grounds. After a short wait, youpress down the metal filter to separatethe grounds, which stay at the bottomwhile you pour out the coffee. In the 19th century, Siphon Pots werecreated. You pour hot water, notboiling, into the bottom beaker, whichis heated until boiling. This pressurepushes water up into the top beaker, mixing with ground coffee. When youremove the heat, the coffee drips backdown, filtered of the grounds as it goes.Espresso MachineThe Espresso Machine we have now began in1885 with Angelo Moriondo and later LuigiBezzerra and Desiderio Pavoni.
