This month, we are thrilled to shine a spotlight on Debbie Carlson, our Administrative Assistant for the New Life Recovery Program. Her story, strength, and heart for people in recovery make her anirreplaceable part of our team.Debbie is no stranger to the pain of addiction—29 years ago, she wasa drug addict who met Jesus in her living room. That encounterchanged everything. Since then, her life has been a testimony ofredemption and healing. “Recovery is my heart,” she often says—and she’s lived it out by volunteering with recovery programswherever she’s lived. Before coming here, Debbie had a full career in floral design. Afterretiring, she thought her working days were over. But whilevolunteering with us, she was offered a position—and felt led tocome out of retirement. “It’s been wonderful ever since,” sheshares. As an Administrative Assistant, Debbie brings more than justorganization—she brings peace. She welcomes every resident with asmile and a listening ear. Her calm, steady presence and deepcompassion offer real encouragement to those on the journey. We’re so grateful for Debbie’s obedience to God’s calling and theheart she pours into this ministry. Her life reminds us that no one istoo far gone, and that Jesus still meets people right where they are.We are blessed to have her on our team.LIFE AT THE MISSIONA M O N T H L Y P U B L I C A T I O N O F T H E C H R I S T I A N M I S S I O N C E N T E R SAUGUST 2025 EDITIONBOARD OF DIRECTORSRAINER COTTERGEORGE BAUMBECCI BENSONBOB PHARESSHERRY TRAWICKRENA AVERETTDAVID ELLISORRICHARD WOODHAMQUINCEY SULLIVANTJEFFERY DOUGLASINDIVIDUALS WHO RECEIVEDFOOD PANTRY ASSISTANCE IN 20241,3031,303INDIVIDUALS ENROLLED IN NEW LIFE IN 20247575Employee SpotlightServing the Wiregrass region of Enterprise, Elba and Geneva
A Huge Thank YouA Huge Thank YouPA GE 2 LIFE AT THE MISSIONWWW.CHRISTMISSIONS.ORG231 GENEVA HWY, ENTERPRISE, AL, 363308AM-5PM | (334) 393-2607 We are thrilled to announce the launch of a new medical outreach initiative at our Mission. Dr. Sam Sawyer has generously committed to volunteering his time and expertise to serve both the residents of the New Life Recovery Program and our local shelter clients. His dedication has already made a tremendous impact. Many of the individuals we serve come from difficult circumstances and do not have healthinsurance. Without proper access to healthcare, they often resort to emergency room visitsfor issues that could be managed with regular care—resulting in expensive bills and no long-term solutions. Dr. Sawyer’s involvement helps bridge that gap. He comes onsite to screenpatients, provide diagnoses, and administer medications—all at no cost to the client. Hiscompassionate care is already improving lives and preventing unnecessary hospital visits. This is just the beginning. Our long-term vision is to grow this effort into a full-fledged Community Clinic—a dedicatedspace where the underserved can consistently receive the care they need with dignity. Dr.Sawyer’s commitment marks the first major step toward that goal, and we are believing foreven greater expansion in the near future. We’re also grateful for our collaboration with Enterprise State Community College’s LPNProgram. Under the leadership of instructor Amy Phillips, LPN students have partnered withus to help launch our Monday clinics. These students bring fresh energy, growing skill, and agenuine desire to serve. Their presence has been vital in helping us organize, triage, andassist Dr. Sawyer during clinic hours. This is a growing mission, and we need your help. If you or someone you know has medicalexperience—whether retired, currently practicing, or still in training—and would like tovolunteer, we invite you to be part of this effort. Please contact our Executive DirectorAmanda Simmons at (334) 406-1495. If you have medical supplies or equipment you’d like todonate, we would be incredibly grateful.Together, we can transform this clinic into more than just a medical outreach—we can builda healing community.Special thanks to Dr. Sawyer and ESCC’s LPN Program for being part of this incrediblebeginning.
