Founded in 1922, the Cookware and Bakeware Alliancehas become the premier resource for the cookware andbakeware industry. One hundred years later, memberscontinue to carry on the message, mission, and vision ofthe original founders.HISTORY FOUNDEDON INTEGRITYThe Engineering Standards were firstrecommended in the 1930s. They were inspired bythe need to establish a founding guide to creatingsafe and consistent consumer products. Membershave established a stringent process to review andimprove cookware and bakeware engineeringstandards to keep up with changing technologyand innovations.JOINCBA.ORG PAGE 02Over the past century, we have madechanges to meet the times and industryrequirements. To better reflect whom werepresent and how we serve the industry, theassociation’s name was updated.Originally founded under the nameAluminum Wares Association by 27aluminum cookware producers to repair andsafeguard the industry’s reputation, themission was to inform and promote thehousewares industry to its members, theircustomers, and the general public. In the 1960s, as stainless steel grew in popularity andimportance in the industry, and other materials werebeing used for cookware, the need for a name changewas recognized. As the Metal Cookware ManufacturersAssociation, membership was expanded to include allmetal manufacturers. This decade also saw theintroduction of nonstick coatings and colors in ourmarket.
