Our friendly staff is always ready to assist families as they check in for FamilyTherapy sessions or for mental health assessments. We strive to make the initial experience as positiveand stress-free as possible, ensuring that everyone feels comfortable and supported from the momentthey walk through our doors.The Children’s Center Utah is the only organization in Utah dedicated to providing trauma-informed,research-based mental health services exclusively to infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and their familiesand caregivers. Our commitment to accessibility means we offer these essential services regardless ofany family's ability to pay. Center-Based C linical Services Outpatient Clinical ServicesOutpatient Clinical Services provides on-site and virtual research-based, trauma-informed outpatientfamily therapy to children birth through six. These services include trauma treatment, family-focusedtreatment, relationship-enhancing dyadic treatment, psychiatric consultations, assessments, ongoingmedication management services, and comprehensive psychological evaluations. Treatment modalities are determined by The Children’s Center Utah clinical staff and are based on theneeds of the children and their families and caregivers. The service or services each child receives aredetermined following a mental health assessment and include trauma-informed family therapy. Services may also include psychological testing, which is used to identify differential diagnoses such asautism; and psychiatry services, including medication management as needed for a variety ofbehavioral health diagnoses.
Children in our Outpatient Clinical Services are referred to our Therapeutic Preschool Program. The Therapeutic Preschool Program is supported by therapists and specialists dedicated to bringinghope and healing to Utah's children. In the most recent year, more than 150 children participated inthe Therapeutic Preschool Program. Under the direction of our compassionate and skilled clinical team, children ages two to fiveparticipate in trauma-informed, research-based group therapy to improve their mental health andemotional well-being and gain the skills they need to be successful in group settings. With support from Therapeutic Preschool Specialists, children learn to share their feelings and processemotions through art and music. Artistic and sensory-rich experiences are offered daily in theTherapeutic Preschool Program, creating a space for children to feel more emotionally regulated andable to express themselves. In the most recent year, 86% of children who participated in the Therapeutic Preschool Program camefrom families earning less than 80% of Area Median Income (AMI). Statewide Provider ServicesEarly Childhood Coaching and ConsultationThe Children’s Center Utah provides in-person and virtual consultation, training, and coaching forearly childhood professionals from a variety of backgrounds statewide, ranging from childcareproviders to licensed mental health professionals, pediatricians, and other medical professionals. Childcare providers gain access to evidence-based, trauma-informed practices they can implement intheir own settings, which expands our reach and impact. In the past year, The Children's Center Utah has provided in-person or virtual training to childcareproviders in every county in Utah.
Statewide Provider ServicesTraining RoomLocal and regional experts in Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health (IECMH) engage incollaborative learning and training to enhance the emotional well-being of children across the state. The Children's Center Utah partners with dozens of organizations committed to improving children'smental health and emotional well-being. Our efforts are crucial in effectively addressing Utah’s children’s mental health crisis, helping the nextgeneration grow into strong, resilient adults ready to face life’s challenges with confidence and fullyexperience its joys.
MURAL COLLABORATION SPACESTRATEGY ROOM BREAK ROOM Team SpacesOur children’s mental health campus is designed to foster teamwork, featuring numerousmeeting rooms and collaborative spaces. Each area is thoughtfully designed with our brand'svibrant colors, prioritizing a workspace that promotes well-being for our team. Our dedicated team includes clinical social workers, mental health counselors, licensedmarriage and family therapists, psychologists, and a child psychiatrist. Additionally, our teamcomprises graduate student interns, post-graduate residents, paraprofessionals, shuttle drivers,and skilled administrators.
Family StoreOur Family store is a donation-based program available to all children and families of The Children’sCenter Utah. Donations provide ongoing access to basic need items to over 1,200 children, families,and caregivers receiving our services each year. Families are strengthened by year-round access toresources such as clothing, shoes, toys, books, personal care items, and special holiday items. Volunteers play an essential role in keeping the Family Store stocked, organized, inventoried, andaccessible to all. In December, volunteers help with decorating and converting the Family Store into aHoliday Store, where families can access gifts for their children. We accept donations of gently used clothing, toys, and books. Donations of personal care items such asshampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion, underwear, blankets, diapers, baby wipes, and shelf-stablefood must be unused and properly sealed. Donations can be made by visiting our Amazon Wishlist, orby donation drop-offs.
