106 CEI & CAC Volunteers provided 2,584 hours. 119 CASA Volunteers provided 1,558 hours.VolunteersDuring the 2022-2023 fiscal year...Volunteer Spotlight “I am originally from Queens, New York. I have resided in NY, PA and NC before moving to GAin 2013. My profession has always been some type of position in Law Enforcement, in which Iam currently an Administrative Assistant for the Richmond County Sheriff Department. I havealways been involved with youth from being a previous Girl Scout and working in the nurseryof my family church in New York. When I resided in NC, I had an associate who was aGuardian Liem. She invited me to go to court with her, and there I observed all of the"adults" making decisions for three children, in which I asked "has anyone asked thechildren how they feel about everything"? No "adult" could answer the question, and myheart sank because from their facial expressions, I felt the children had something to say,but was not presented with an opportunity to speak.CASA Volunteer of the Year: Victoria GilmoreWhen I moved to GA in 2013, I began to look for an organization where I could volunteer my time, hoping to work withyouth experiencing foster care. Once settled into GA living I began the "Google Search" and came upon Child Enrichmentin 2015. I was excited that God led me to what my heart desired. I went through the training and have not looked backsince. As of today, I have been assigned four cases, in which each case brought me new experiences and lessons. In mythird case, I had to have some minor back surgery, and was ever so grateful that my CASA Coordinator at that time wasable to step in during my recovery period. I am excited to say that the young lady graduated HS and is now attendingAugusta University. My CASA Coordinator and I count that as a "successful CASA case". Upon my recovery, I returned totraining for a refresher course, and am currently assigned to four adorable siblings whom I truly enjoy. The Foster Caresystem is HUGE and from DFCS, to the Courts, to Foster Placement homes it can be overwhelming to a child. I am simplyhere to make sure that doesn't happen. My desire is that no child feels like they don't have a voice while navigatingthrough the foster care process. I don't do this for fame or recognition, and was very humbled when I was selected for 2023 CASA Volunteer of the Year. Isimply just love being a CASA volunteer, and being able to be the "voice" for the children experiencing foster care." How about you? Do you want to a voice for the voiceless and advocate for a child’s best interest? You canlearn more about how to become a CASA at www.childenrichment.org.
