When undertaking any written assessment tasks, students are to ensure that they focus on the set tasks and that all written work is legible. Prior to the students commencing the assessments, the assessor will explain each assessment task and the terms and conditions relating to the submission of the assessment task. It is important that students understand and adhere to the terms and conditions and address each assessment task fully. If any assessment task is not fully addressed, then the assessment task will be returned for re-submission. Assessment Components The assessor will examine all of the required assessment evidence submitted for this unit of competency and decide whether: a. Satisfactory performance has been demonstrated for this assessment, or b. Satisfactory performance has not yet been demonstrated. If the student is deemed as unsatisfactory, they will need to discuss with the assessor any further evidence required. Students may only need to be reassessed on the area that was not assessed as satisfactory. Please note that students must satisfactorily complete all assessment tasks to be deemed competent for this unit. Students cannot be signed off as competent for this unit until any/all workplace and/or practical experience requirements have been met. These questions form the underpinning theoretical knowledge of the unit of competency. Students will need to demonstrate a sound knowledge of the topic in their responses and answer all the questions provided. Students are required to answer all questions correctly to achieve a satisfactory result. They must read the questions and record their response in the space provided or indicate the correct response from a number of given options. Students are able to refer to the Learning Guide, workplace policies and procedures, workplace templates and other materials to complete this task. Section 1: Human Needs and Development Q1.1. According to Abraham Maslow, people have a range of needs that extend from the most basic to deeper psychological or intellectual needs. They will need to demonstrate a detailed knowledge of the topic in their responses and answer all the questions provided. Students are required to read the case study provided and complete all questions correctly to achieve a satisfactory result. They must read the question, referring to the case study and record their response in the space provided. Their written responses, unless otherwise stated, must be a minimum of 2 paragraphs. She has just moved to supported accommodation after her mother was admitted to an aged care facility with severe dementia. Carla’s Guardian is her older sister, Renee. Carla is living with Matthew and Sarah and supported by a team of support workers. Carla and her mother regularly hosted bible study in their home and Carla has asked at the house meeting if she could host the next one. To ensure the integrity of the assessment and that the student is authentically acquiring the skills required by the unit, the assessor requires a workplace supervisor to observe the student’s performance and verify their skills acquired. Involving a workplace supervisor as a third party in the collection of evidence allows assessors to gather authentic and valid evidence of the student’s real work performance under real working conditions. The purpose of the Workplace Verification Report is for you to verify and record the student’s progress towards achievement of competencies. It contains a record of all the competencies required for this assessment and must be acknowledged by you, the third-party, the student and the assessor. Details of competencies in which the student must perform, and you must acknowledge are listed on the following pages. The Workplace Verification Report… • Identifies tasks that the student will need to undertake • Details the instructions that you, the third party, will need to follow • Allows you to record your observations of the student and additional comments • Allows the assessor to validate your feedback and add their own comments • Is an important record of the student’s achievements and must be completed in full and returned to the student on completion of the assessment • Provides additional evidence to support the competencies required for this unit of competency to be achieved You must complete all the sections in this report after observing the student throughout the task requirements. Complete each section and indicate your opinion of if the student demonstrated the skills described by adding comments and feedback. Responsibilities Students are responsible for: • Providing the Verification Report to you, the Third-Party. • Ensuring the Verification Report is completed by you before submitting it to the assessor. The workplace supervisor is responsible for: • Facilitating the practical activities. • Observing the performance of the student. • Reviewing and monitoring their performance by indicating your observations and providing feedback to the assessor. • Discussing your observations and feedback with the assessor. Record of Hours Timesheet You are required to complete 120 hours of direct client support to successfully complete this unit. Use the table in the Workplace Verification Report to record your hours and have your workplace supervisor sign off to confirm completion. Do not record any break times.
