No customer wants to run into issues on the jobsite. When Safety is a core value for both the Customer and the Supplier, everyone wins! It is customary for our larger customers to have our drivers participate in a safety orientation program for their jobsite. While working with Skanska (project development and construction group), they requested our employees participate in their ‘Delivery Driver Program’, We were able to adapt their program specically for our drivers. Their materials, coupled with the short video, directly supported Chandler’s expectations from PPE, the use of Spotters and hazard identication. Many of our drivers went through this program completing the UNC-Chapel Hill Surgical Tower. In turn, Skanska’s site management participated in our Job Safe is Job Smart program provided to our customers. Another customer, ProCon, had an employee injured attempting to ip the fold-down chute at a jobsite in Virginia. Working with their management team, they put 80 of their employees through the Job Safe Program. Some of their team used our Spanish version of the program, also available on our website. At Chandler, we strive for ”Safety Without Compromise,“ recognizing that everything we do has elements of risk. We identify these risks and work to reduce or eliminate these hazards. We recognize that safety also requires:• continuous improvement, • addressing hazardous behaviors and conditions, • adapting and adopting best safety practices. We want our safety expectations to meet the needs of our customers. HRA & WELLNESSThanks to the Moderna, Pfizer and Janssen vaccinations, Covid-19 may no longer be the crisis that is was, but it is far from over. We must continue to be prudent to avoid another widespread outbreak of this deadly virus. According to the recommendations of the CDC and our understanding of how coronavirus spreads, Chandler is requring masks to be worn indoors when interacting with staff, regardless of vaccination status. We encourage all employees to be mindful that coronavirus is still present, making people sick and even taking lives. While the choice of whether or not to take the vaccination is left up to each of you as individuals, the choice to have the vaccination can result in saving the lives of you, your family and/or your co-workers. With that in mind, the company encourages employees to get vaccinated and will give a $50.00 Visa gift card to every employee who provides proof of vaccination to human resources. In addition, employees are provided paid time off of three hours per shot to receive the vaccination - two shots required for the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines and one shot required for the Janssen vaccine. • Everyone age 12 and over is eligible to get a Covid-19 vaccine• The vaccines are proven to help prevent Covid-19 and are effective in preventing hospitalization and death. • Covid-19 vaccines are built on years of work to develop vaccines for similar viruses.• You cannot get Covid-19 from the vaccines.• There were no serious safety concerns noted in the clinical trials. You may have temporary reactions like a sore arm, fever, headache or feeling tired and achy for a day or two after receiving the vaccine.• The vaccines teach your body how to create a protein that helps you fight Covid-19. The protein and vaccine leave your body after they are finished and cannot be tracked.• The vaccines are free to everyone, even if you don’t have insurance.• Personal information about your health and identity is carefully managed to protect your privacy. It is not shared with CDC or ICE.• Follow the 3 Ws- wear a mask, wait six feet apart from others and wash your hands - before and after getting the Covid-19 vaccine. This is everyone’s best protection from getting and spreading Covid-19.• Everyone has a spot for honest information on Covid-19 vaccines and where to get vaccinated. Go to YourSpotYourShot.nc.gov or call the Covid-19 Vaccine Help Center toll-free at 888-675-4567.PLEASE CONSIDER THE FOLLOWING FACTS ABOUT THE COVID-19 VACCINES AS SHARED BY THE NC DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES:COVID-19SUMMER 2021 • AS THE DRUM TURNS • 9

BUILDING SUPPLYThe first half of 2021 has been quite unique in the building supply industry. We have seen material shortages and historically high prices have put a lot of stress on residential building. Since the beginning of the year, lumber prices have added an average of $36,000 to a new home. The influx of price increases and inability to forecast prices has made it difficult for us to provide bids to our customers. We have seen the majority of builders slow their pace to protect themselves from these uncertainties. The first quarter of 2021 met expectations for new building permits, but the same cannot be said for the second quarter, with April and May missing projected numbers. Chandler Building Supply has worked hard to avoid a backlog and stay in front of our customers’ needs. We strive to stay in constant communication with our customers about their upcoming projects and timelines to be able source material and provide the standard of service our customers have come to expect. Through this diligence, we have had a strong start to the year and expect to continue through the remainder of 2021.SUMMER 2021 • AS THE DRUM TURNS • 11

Grotto Hardscapes has been working very diligently to meet the needs of our customers. Covid-19 has caused an increase in requests for outdoor living areas and home improvements. Retaining walls, pavers, repits, seat walls, outdoor kitchens and columns are very popular. Our Grotto Hardscape products offered to our dealers and home market contractors have been sufcient to meet demands. Commercial retaining wall sales continue to remain strong. The need for commercial and residential property has increased the demand for topography-challenged land to be attened out for development. The segmental retaining walls provide an economical and function option for retaining soil, and Chandler offers many options for developers.Versa-Lok Clean Cut is our newest product available to the market. It is a smooth-face weathered wall system developed by our R&D Committee. This product has already been used with a few of our projects, and interest continues to grow. Chandler plants in Danville and Christiansburg continue to increase capacity. Delivery drivers, plant employees, yard forklift drivers and dispatchers are working extremely hard to keep up with this unprecedented demand for our products.HARDSCAPECORNER12 • AS THE DRUM TURNS • SUMMER 2021

“We recently moved to Danville from California and wanted to create an outdoor living area for relaxing and entertaining. James Cox of Elaborate Landscapes helped us design a space to suit our needs and select a variety of materials from Chandler to make it beautiful. The Woodland Direct gas burner (42” round, 360K BTU Crossre burner) is powerful enough to keep us warm on chilly nights, yet can be turned down to cast an ambient glow on warm nights. The whole space feels like we added a room to the house. Our girls are home from college for the summer so we are spending a lot of time entertaining on the patio and relaxing around the re pit.” - Homeowner Project: Danville, VA ResidenceContractor: Stockwell LandscapingProduct: Weathered Chestnut Versa-Lok StandardSUMMER 2021 • AS THE DRUM TURNS • 13
