SKYLIGHT LOFTS COMING TO HISTORIC DOWNTOWN HELP US WELCOME BETH TO THE CEP BY C H A M PA I G N E CO N O M I C PA R T N E R S H I P B Y C H E L S E A B R AY URBANA OHIO Skylight Lofts is an exciting newly renovated loft space in Historic Downtown Urbana Located on the east side of URBANA OHIO The Champaign Economic Partnership would like to welcome Beth McCain to the team as our new Business Office Manager She started this role with a love of office organization and management but quickly developed a love for economic development as well Beth was born and raised in Springfield Ohio and moved to Urbana 16 years ago She says that the neighborly atmosphere and the willingness to help one another is what she loves most about living in Champaign County N Main Street Dr Dave Smith has renovated the 2nd and 3rd story of the building to create a unique living experience for a new generation seeking an urban vibe with a lower cost of living than in major metro areas The historic 1880s building is named for its three large skylights The original layout has been preserved with open stairways and atriums Abundant natural light fully illuminates the interior of the building just as it did before electric lighting All original window spaces and antique woodwork and doors have been preserved Upgrades with new energy efficient double paned glass and easy to open screened windows have been installed on the exterior Each loft apartment has two large rooms The exterior facing room is for living quarters with a kitchen and bath The interior facing room is for optional use as more living space or for conducting business Each room has a separate door to the public areas In each loft there are new kitchens with electric stove tops dishwashers refrigerators and combination convection and microwave ovens Laundry will be free for tenants with facilities on each floor The lofts are conveniently located in beautiful historic downtown Urbana Ohio Within just a few blocks are several coffee and tea shops local delis and restaurants a variety of shops and a complete grocery store one block away Outside of her work life she loves spending time with her husband daughter sonin law and stepson When she is not at work or with her family you can find her volunteering at Discovery Riders She started riding lessons about a year ago and loves all her time spent at the barn On a new pink door Let s Eat Cake has added a quaint yet elegant event space to their bakery With a growing business Owner Tina Knotts decided to open the connected addition as an event space Tina says We ve been blessed with continued growth and community support We plan to host special events including tea parties Our new space is perfect for bridal showers baby showers birthday luncheons and meetings Tina and her staff will handle all the details as well so her clients can relax and enjoy the party Having an event space will play an integral role in our thriving community Tina adds It s exciting to see the store fronts fill with new retail opportunities including new interest in downtown projects offering loft living and new restaurants While challenging Tina says the past two years CEP board she is a Senior Communications Specialist Social Media Strategist and Retail Manager at Memorial Health a CEP partner investor Robin has extensive experience in marketing communications economic development and nonprofit work She served on Champaign County Community Investment Corporation the precursor to the CEP as well as working with the United Way of Union County as their PR coordinator She has served on the Champaign County Family YMCA board Champaign County Chamber of Commerce Board and the American Cancer Society s Champaign County Relay for Life With her husband Gary Robin has two adult sons Greg and Jacob Robin is excited about what the future holds for Champaign County and is proud of the collaborative work done by the CEP the business investors and area partners Vice President Brad Winner is a local businessman with his family they own and operate MIXX165 Beer Kitchen in Mechanicsburg as well as Winner s Markets with locations in Clark Champaign and Logan Counties he has been serving on the CEP board since 2020 Brad is involved in many nonprofit fundraising efforts he established the Good Eats fundraising program through MIXX to help raise money for youth sports local nonprofit organizations and community causes Brad serves as President of the Champaign County Arts Council board where he helps organize events and raise funds for scholarship programs and art events throughout the county Brad and his wife Samantha live in Urbana with their son Jack Brad is excited to step into this role to help advance the county This organization has moving he says Treasurer Karen Hart is a new addition to the Champaign Economic Partnership bringing years of banking experience to the board Karen is President and CEO at the First Central National bank where she is responsible for the overall direction and administration of products provided to customers as well as the institutions financial performance risk management and regulatory compliance She is on the committee for Our Town St Paris and enjoys being active in Champaign County 4 H programs Karen looks forward to connecting with CEP investors and working to promote economic development in Champaign County The Champaign Economic Partnership Board would like to give the previous Executive Committee a big Thank You for the hard work that they put in to make numerous projects successful
