Your support ensured that 2018 was a year of unprecedented growth marked by new partnerships and many successes, inspired by the incredible Maestro Eckart Preu. Thank you for the part you played in helping the CCO to achieve the seemingly impossible: an over 50% increase in single ticket sales and a 30% increase in subscriptions! Without you - subscribers, donors, volunteers, Board members, supporters, patrons and friends - the successes detailed in the following pages would not have been possible. Eckart and the musicians ensured that Summermusik 2018 was another inventive, engaging and collaborative season that put CCO audiences and music into more venues across Greater Cincinnati. The first MusikArt collaboration with Wash Park Art Gallery featured original works by five local artists who had been expertly paired with the concert theme that would most resonate with their styles and passions. These artists brought new life to instruments, using them as canvases to represent Eckart’s vision for each of the four Mainstage concerts and the season as a whole. From world premieres to our very own CCO Fretboard brew to the first ever sold out Mainstage concert, last season was truly one of many firsts! Your passion and curiosity continued to support the CCO's tradition of sharing the stage with great organizations: on-stage collaborations with Taft Museum, Cincinnati Art Museum, the incredible photography of Cincinnati artist Michael Tittel, the inaugural CCO + SCPA Concerto Competition and a groundbreaking partnership with the Armed Forces Ticketing Association and the Music Resource Center resulted in new works composed by MRC students which honored heroes in our community. Made possible through the gifts of donors and sponsors, December's biennial production of Amahl & the Night Visitors with Madcap Puppets, Pones Inc. dancers and Xavier University was the first chamber orchestra and opera production for nearly 200 elementary students who attended a dress rehearsal and a Q&A with the performers.Beyond the stage, your generosity throughout the year enables the CCO to continue making music accessible. Last year oered many opportunities for CCO musicians to take music into the community through programs at Cincinnati Children's Hospital and Cain Ministries in Northside, as well as free outdoor concerts at Burnet Woods and Washington Park and several performances in libraries across Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky. Thank you to our donors – both new and returning – for continuing to believe in the CCO and recognizing the value of aordable cultural and musical experiences to our community. And thank you especially to the CCO's 2018 Board of Trustees for their vision and leadership in another year of record growth. We can’t wait to share 2019 with you - see you in August! CEDRIC MICHAEL COX | DAVID LAUG | SARA PEARCE | THOMAS TOWHEY | NICOLE TRIMBLETHE CINCINNATI CHAMBER ORCHESTRA BELIEVES INtaking a lead role in teaching children about the art of music. As arts education diminishes in the school system, it is increasingly important for performance arts organizations to step forward and mold the next generation of musicians and music lovers. Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra develops tomorrow’s talent and audiences through invitations to open rehearsals, participation in question and answer sessions with our performers and music director, complimentary performance tickets and side-by-side musical performances. We believe music education is important for the musically curious of all ages. That is why we include fun and interesting facts in our concerts, whether during our pre-concert Prelude Talks (above), music director comments delivered from the stage, or a chance for audience members to meet the musicians following each performance. The Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra has an ongoing collaboration with Music for Youth in Cincinnati (MYCincinnati), an instrumental classical music program for children ages 7-13 located in East Price Hill. Recognizing that MYCincinnati primarily oers large group instruction and performances, the CCO saw the opportuni-ty to enhance this program by providing individual and small group instruction, giving students the chance to interact with a working professional musician as teacher and mentor. CCO members visit MYCincinnati for several hours each week.In January, CCO concertmaster Celeste Golden Boyer and music director Eckart Preu participated with the Holocaust & Humanities Center at SCPA for Violins of Hope (right). In May, the CCO strings and winds performed a side-by-side concert with MYCincinnati at The Sanctuary (above). During Summermusik, guest artists and conductors often lead masterclasses across the Tri-State, including Christopher O’Riley’s visit last summer to CCM and the School for Creative & Performing Arts.COLLABORATED WITHPARTNERED WITH
