T H E C I N C I N NAT I C H A M B E R O RC H E S T R A B E L I E V E S I N taking a lead role in teaching children about the art of music We believe that as arts education diminishes in the school system it is increasingly important for performance arts organizations to step forward and mold the next generation of musicians and music lovers We accomplish this through attendance at open rehearsals participation in question and answer sessions with our performers and music director complimentary performance tickets and side by side musical performances The Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra has an ongoing collaboration with Music for Youth in Cincinnati MYCincinnati an instrumental classical music program for children ages 7 13 located in East Price Hill Recognizing that MYCincinnati primarily offers large group instruction and performances the CCO saw the opportunity to enhance this program by providing individual and small group instruction giving students the chance to interact with a working professional musician as teacher and mentor CCO members visit MYCincinnati for several hours each week In May the CCO strings performed a side by side concert with MYCincinnati at the Boys Girls Club above During the summer festival our guest artists and conductors also lead masterclasses across the Tri State including Eckart Preu and Alon Goldstein s visit to the School for Creative Performing Arts right We believe music education is important for the musically curious of all ages That is why we include fun and interesting facts in our concerts whether that is during our pre concert Prelude Talks music director comments delivered from the stage or a chance for audience members to meet the musicians following each performance
