Qualified private-sector companies willprovide the home internet service. The County has determined companies to bequalified through a separate formal process(a Request for Statement of Qualification), todeploy and operate broadband internetservices for residential households. The County is seeking a 5-year or longer public-private partnership to deliver the CommunityBroadband Network. The County has committed at least $56M of itsAmerican Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) State andLocal Fiscal Recovery Funds toward the CBNprojects and will seek additional fundingsources, including state and federal grants.Work Order Solicitation forLA County’s CommunityBroadband NetworkSpecificationsWork Order Due DateQualified proposers submit by March 24, 2023. This isfaster than the current national definition ofbroadband internet service (25/3) and suitablefor multiple household members to usebandwidth-demanding applications andservices at the same time. The provider must participate in the federalgovernment’s Affordable Connectivity Program,which provides a $30 discount on monthlyinternet service for qualified households.
