Members and Friends of the Camp Bratton Green Alumni Association,First of, I want to say thank you to everyone who contributed to the Association’s efors over the past year. Your contributions, no matter what kind or how large or small, have made a real diference at camp. Aer a year of getting camp back into working order following the pandemic, this year we’ve pivoted to making improve-ments on top of that restoration. From deep cleans to new paint jobs to tackling easily overlooked areas of camp in need (have you seen the pumphouse lately?), your efors have helped camp continue to become the best it can be!We’ve also renovated our online presence - many thanks to the Board’s own Rev. CJ Meaders for his work on our new website at cbgalumni.org, which is helping to keep folks in the loop, tell the story of Camp and the Association, and make it easy for contributors and sustainers to chip in inancially.Speaking of giving, let’s review the ways anyone who wants to suppor our mission can do so. You can contribute inancially by making a donation or, even better, by becoming a sustaining member for 20 dollars a month (annualized at $240). If you aren’t in a position to make a monetary contribution, or just wish to do more aer donating, consider attending our Alumni gatherings, which are equal pars work and play and provide a chance for frequent ‘family reunions’ of camp lovers. Paricularly, our Spring Break Work Week has become a bit of a tradition and ofers a chance for folks to come out for as much or as little time as they’re able. We hope you’ll join us and keep yourself in the loop – make sure we have your up-to-date contact information so we can reach you. It’s easy on the new site at cbgalumni.org!Finally, we have an election coming up to ill two board seats and would love for you to nominate, vote, or perhaps even stand for election (you must be a sustaining member to serve)! Nominations will begin soon and new board members will be seated by Diocesan Council (February 2). Please keep your eye out for emails about this imporant process. With a second successful summer post-covid under our belts, the future is looking bright. Thank you for all you do to build up This Old Place and keep Herman the Worm eating strange creatures for generations to come. In Christ’s name we play! Joe Sabatier, Board PresidentA LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT4
Before summer sessions begin and campers arrive on Way Road, there is a stroke of a paint brush, a hammer strike, a light bulb change, and a window washed (among many larger projects) that assures Camp will do the thing, change lives on Way Road, year aer year. I know my experiences and those of my children have been afected deeply by this work. Nick GaultSustaining Member“”5

WHAT HAVE THE ALUMNI DONE THIS YEAR? The Alumni Association exists to suppor Camp Bratton Green with whatever they need! Read on to see what we’ve been up to so far in 2023!WORK WEEKENDS The Alumni Association hosted ive work weekends at CBG this year! Projects completed at these weekends range from heavy duty groundskeeping & boat dock repairs to cleaning out drawers and sweeping down spiderwebs. These weekends have been vital to making Camp look its best! SPRING BREAK WORK WEEK Young adults (and the young at hear) gathered at Bratton Green for Spring Break this year to tackle some pretty huge projects! The Spring Breakers installed the new boat launch and refurbished the boat dock, cleared Snake Island, cleaned out the camp kitchen, and so more! It wasn’t all work though, Spring Breakers also enjoyed a crawish boil, sing-alongs, spooky stories at the Big House, and a whole lot of CBG love.
ALUMNI MEMBER EVENTS2023 saw the creation of the Alumni Member Events - events at Camp exclusively for CBGAA Sustaining Members. The Spring Sustaining Members Dinner met for food and fellowship, then discussed and voted on projects for the year. Our recent Fall Alumni Weekend completed projects like repairing the pool house, cleaning and scrap-ing windows, and organizing oices before enjoying the last pool swim of 2023, delicious food, and some classic CBG activitiy periods. We are so excited about the great member turn-out and can’t wait to host more member weekends in 2024! OUTREACH EFFORTSChances are, if you dropped a kid of at CBG this summer, you probably saw the CBGAA Table! Alumni volunteers set up shop at Camp check-in at every session to sign up new members, work the CBG Post Oice, and spread the word about the Alumni Association. We are so grateful for the volunteers who signed up to represent us and want to welcome all of our new members!WHAT HAVE THE ALUMNI DONE THIS YEAR? 13
HEAR FROM OUR MEMBERSCBG is a ministry that has served the lives of many and is worhy of continuing to serve the generations to come.Charles Fowler, Sustaining MemberDuring summer camp sessions, directors, the permanent staf, and camp staf are held to a budget (for obvious reasons). But we CBGers like to dream big! That’s when the alumni get to come in and let us dream. They help out with the “wants,” not just the “needs,” providing suppor to make Camp extra special!Mary Proctor, Sustaining Member[A]n organization where we can connect and know we’re all par of a community is beyond wonderul.Wesley Dufee-Braun, Sustaining MemberA way to enjoy the beauty of Bratton Green by helping rejuvenate and create new ways to share in the beauty with those who share the same love for our gem on Way Rd. ”Leahbeth TurpinSustaining MemberThe Alumni Association clearly enhances camp through work weekends & inancial suppor. The repairs, cleaning & projects done at these weekends is hours and hours worh of labor . . . The AA is truly vital to the continued maintenance and care of Camp Bratton Green. I love CBG. It is my, hands down, favorite place on earh. And now my youngest has fallen in love with it and I want her to be able to go and enjoy as I always have.Margaret DeMarsSustaining Member““””15

HOW ARE WE DOING?Last year, we laid out three strategic goals for our work in 2023. We are proud to repor that we have accomplished two of the goals already, and have made great headway on the third! GOAL 1: COMPLETE Grow number of Sustaining Members to 100.We hit 100 Sustaining Members in August thanks to our Sustaining Members Drive! We are so thankful for all of our new (and existing) Sustainers!GOAL 2: COMPLETEUpdate the Alumni website to be more user-friendly before the star of summer 2023.We want to give a shoutout to Alumni Board Member CJ Meaders who spearheaded the creation and design of our beautiful new website - cbgalumni.org!GOAL 3: 80% COMPLETEHost 10 volunteer events for Alumni Members. So far, we’ve hosted 8 alumni events - 5 work weekends, Spring Break, Spring Members Dinner, and the Fall Alumni Weekend. We aren’t sure if we’ll be able to complete this goal for 2023, but plan on working hard to ofer as many volunteer opporunities as possible in 2024.17
ALUMNI MONEY ON HAND = $26,85418This year with our record number of new members and the generous donations of CBG Alumni, we’ve been able to accomplish tons of projects, donated money to Camp activity areas, and been able to provide for the wants (and some needs) of CBG! Keep an eye out for the Spring Repor (to be released in 2024) for the full breakdown of revenue and expenses for 2023.
WHAT’S NEXT?We want to say thank you for taking the time to get to know us and see what we’ve been up to this year! Nothing the Alumni Association accomplished could have been done without the dedication of our Members - THANK YOU for your continued suppor! Not a member yet?
