READY TO DIVE INTO ONE OF OUR MAJORS?All prospective design-oriented majors (Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Interior Design, and Urban Planning) have a fall start term and must complete a separate, supplemental application for admission into the college which is due in the spring.3Estopinal College of Architecture and Planning | ApplicationSTEP ONE: Apply to Ball State University.STEP TWO: Read through our application criteria and complete the checklist items in your Cardinal Landing portal to be considered for admission to the program of your choice. The supplemental application items include:• Application to your requested program• Essay questions (completed within the application)• Two non-family related letters of recommendationSTEP THREE: Check your Cardinal Landing portal and email for your admission decision to both Ball State and the Estopinal College of Architecture and Planning. While a design portfolio is not required, we strongly encourage students to submit one. Review our portfolio examples and requirements to learn more.Questions? CHECK OUT OURFIRST-YEAR DESIGN PROGRAMS4Estopinal College of Architecture and Planning | First-Year Design ProgramsThe First-Year Program is for all architecture, landscape architecture, and urban planning majors—regardless of which of the three disciplines you’re planning to major in. Our belief is that foundational design, communication, and discipline-specic introductory coursework is eective in introducing students to all three disciplines. At the end of the rst year, after building a solid foundation for all three disciplines, students then apply to the program(s) of their specic interest in architecture, landscape architecture, and urban planning.To pursue an interior design major, students must rst apply and gain admission to the Pre-Interior Design Program. Advancement to the major requires passing the Interior Design Portfolio Review in the spring of the rst year.Click on the images above for more information on each of the majors.ARCHITECTUREURBAN PLANNINGINTERIOR DESIGNOur architectural degrees provide a solid grounding in the broad concepts and specic technical skills you need to excel. Professional experiences and applied design projects in the studio and the community will prepare you for success as a licensed architect.Our urban planning degrees provide a balance of research, history, theory, policy, economics, statistics, geospatial mapping, design, analysis, visual, verbal and written communication to round out the diverse tasks and skills that urban planners use on a daily basis.Ball State’s interior design major provides an education in resilient, sustainable, and adaptive design solutions that enhance the function, safety, and aesthetic quality of indoor environments. Our bachelor’s degree in interior design prepares students for an exciting and challenging career in a variety of settings like commercial oces, health care facilities, hospitality (restaurant and hotel), store planning, and much more.Our landscape architecture degrees take a sustainability-focused and design-centered approach to prepare you on how to respond to signicant environmental, social, and public health challenges that landscape architects must be equipped for.
