He earned his medical degree from the University of Nevada School of Medicine and completed a5-year general surgery residency at the University of Florida.After just 4 years as a general surgery resident, he advanced to the chief resident during his 5th year. Dr. Larsen then completed a plastic surgery fellowship at Wake Forest University Baptist Hospital, one of the country’s most demanding plastic surgery programs. After his plastic surgery fellowship, Dr. Larsen traveled throughout the country and trained with some of the most renowned cosmetic surgeons in the country. Eventually, he settled in Atlanta where he established his cosmetic surgery practice in the prestigious Buckhead district of north Atlanta. WHAT IS MIRADRY?miraDry is the only treatment cleared by the FDA to provide a noticeable improvement in underarm sweat reduction. miraDry uses noninvasive technology to eliminate underarm sweat glands through thermal energy. 5
HOW DOES IT WORK?The miraDry treatment is performed in the comfort of our ofce. A local anesthetic is injected to the underarm. A temporary tattoo is added to the treatment area as a guideline to ensure optimal results. A slight tugging sensation can be expected. During the treatment, over-productive sweat glands are eliminated. The miraDry system has a built-in cooling safeguard to protect the surface of the skin. 6
WHAT RESULTS CAN I EXPECT?The best part of miraDry is that you can expect results immediately after your rst treatment. This treatment is clinically proven to reduce sweat production by an average of 82% and odor production by 89%. 7
WHAT TO EXPECT POST-TREATMENT?Once the local anesthetic has dissipated, patients will experience some discomfort and swelling, with maximum swelling occurring in the rst 24-48 hours. This is controlled by the use of ice packs and ibuprofen. Specic instructions will be provided at the treatment appointment.Typical side effects are temporary and may include swelling, numbness, bruising, or sensitivity to the treatment area. DO I NEED MY SWEAT GLANDS?Although sweating is necessary to cool the body, there are 2-4 million sweat glands and only a small percentage (around 2%) of them are located in the underarms. Eliminating 2% of sweat glands does not affect the body’s ability to cool itself or cause more sweating in other areas.8
