Picture of the Week Prayer Corner God will never apologize for loving the lost son Scripture Reference Luke 15 25 32 If you have more than one child or other siblings you probably have heard these sayings Why do they get to do that You never let me do that or Why did they get that and I didn t Jealousy and envy It s our human nature It s the central destruction of the family and why most of us dread family gatherings during the holidays We desire what we think others may have or regret not possessing the same opportunities as others Here we continue the story of the lost son He left home with his inheritance spent it all realized his mistake and came home asking his father for forgiveness He came home and his father celebrated his homecoming with a party But his brother wasn t happy The other brother stalked off in an angry sulk and refused to join in His father came out and tried to talk to him but he wouldn t listen The son said Lok how many years I ve stayed here serving you never giving you one moment of grief but have you ever thrown a party for my friends and me Then this son of yours who has thrown away your money shows up and you go all out with a feast His father said Son you don t understand You re with me all the time and everything that is mine is yours but this is a beautiful time and we had to celebrate He perceived something about his brother that wasn t true He thought his brother was partying and having a good time while he was at home left with all the chores The reality his brother had is hard He was hungry homeless and helpless No one would give him any food that he would have eaten the slop he was feeding the pigs Meanwhile he was always at the party Jealousy and envy give us a false reality of people and God He had a terrible understanding of the Father He had older brother syndrome 1 Selfish 2 It s not fair 3 We forget how good Dad God is It s interesting God doesn t give us an ending to the story He doesn t reveal if the brother realized he was wrong The conclusion is your choice Do you recognize when you feel jealous or envious Do you know the full story You are only witnessing the outcome of a long journey and how God chooses to turn the story around Most of us if we knew the full story no matter where they are now would not have wanted to walk their journey Realized you are already at the party You never left Grace is not fair that s why its called Grace Remember God will never apologize for loving the prodigal son th 5 grade science time trials Please join us next Tuesday in the Extended Day Room at 8 30
