Things You Should KnowSize of The Clothes Hoist These hoists have several size and colour options available; the first step is to determine the size of the line based on the number of people using the line, how often do you wash and how large your wash loads are.Installation Area Available The area available to install the line is also an important consideration and possibly the one which will determine the size line you can install. The Clothes Hoist diameter is measured across the tips of the bars, in addition to this it's recommended to have at least 500mm clearance all around the clothes hoist. The reason clearance is so important is to ensure the line can rotate in the breeze without obstruction, plus your clothesline won’t get caught on the fence, house, trees or garden.Determining the Clothes Hoist Budget As Clothes Hoists are one of the most used appliances in the home and can last up to 15 years or more. It’s advisable to consider this when working out your budget and before making a buying decision. We always recommend buying the best quality product your budget allows and the largest one which will suit your home. Because it’s better not to use all the lines than one day wishing you had more lines.Product Warranty All products come with a manufacturer’s warranty, the length of time varies based on the brand and all comply with the Australian consumer laws. A product warranty will cover plastic components and cord for up to 12 months only, with the balance of the product being covered for longer.1324Australia’s #1TheClotheslineStore.com.au1300 509 564

Location & ColoursWhen deciding on the location of your clothesline there are several factors to consider. Having it located where there is breeze, and sun helps the drying process. The area available can also determine the size of the hoist which should consider the minimum 500mm space around the diameter for the clothesline. If you have the same brand of clothesline the newer models will typical fit into the existing socket. The post diameter is 57mm on all brands. If you are having a new installation, the surface you select will have an effect of the installation type, refer to the installation section. The folding rotary clothes hoists come in a variety of colours; the colour range depends on the manufacturer. You can see the colours available for each product at The Clothesline Store and select the one you prefer at time of purchase. The colours offered are designed to compliment window trims, fences and gutters. However, it is not always the best option to try and match these surfaces as the Clothes Hoists can be an attractive addition to the garden in it’s own right.Location Clothesline ColoursAustralia’s #1TheClotheslineStore.com.au1300 509 564

Recommended Sizes & ClearancesRotary Clothes Hoist sizes are based on their diameter, this is the dimension from one tip to another over the centre post. An easy way to measure this is by measuring the distance from the centre post the outside of one arm and double itWe recommend allowing 500mm or more clearance around the Clothesline Hoist. All the Folding Clothes Hoists come with minimum a set height, Hills products come with three spacers which allow you to increase the line height and Austral have an adjustment setting in the socket, refer to the product instruction manuals for further details.Australia’s #1TheClotheslineStore.com.au1300 509 564

Frequently Ask QuestionsQ: Are the clothes Hoist easy to install?A: This depends on the skill set of the installer, all products come with an installation manual. However, there is a level of skill required, we recommend consulting an expert or local handyman if you are not sure.Q: Will the Clothes Hoist fit into my existing socket?A: The manufactures have kept the same diameter socket over many years. There are no special tools required.Q: How much space should I have around the Clothes Hoist?A: The recommended space is at least 500mm each side of the clothes Hoist, this will allow the clothesline to air freely and not be hindered by any obstructions.Q: Does The Clothesline Store deliver directly from its warehouse or its suppliers?A: We deliver directly from our warehouse to your door. The only exception is for our Made to Order Air Dry clotheslines, which are shipped straight from our factory. Wall & Fence Mounted InstallationThe most common installation type is a brick or concrete walls. These provide a quality anchor point for the clotheslines. However if your bricks or masonry wall is in poor condition a ground mount option may be a better solution. If you have a Hebbal, Cladding or Weatherboard wall we do not recommend this type of installation.A local handyman or builder may be able to assist you in fixing a clothesline to these types of surfaces, however we do not indorse this type of installation. Weather BoardIf you have a fence, we do not recommend installingyour clothesline onto it. In these situations, we suggest using a ground mount kit as shown below, even if you have an existing clothesline on a fence. This is because the integrity of the fence may not be suitable to support the clothesline for the same number of years the clothesline will function.HebbalWall CladdingRecommended SurfacesFence MountingSurfaces Not RecommendedMetal Fenced Timber Fence Ground MountAustralia’s #1TheClotheslineStore.com.au1300 509 564

Page 14

Ground Mounted InstallationThe ground mount kits connect to the clotheslines and allow them to be free standing instead of a wall mounted installation. The most common installation for the legs is to be concreted into soil or a grassed area. You can also install the clothesline on a concrete slab or path, for this there are two options available. One is to core drill the concrete and the other, a less expensive option is to plate mount the legs to the concrete. The only brands which provide base plate mounting options are Air Dry, Austral and Daytek.Core hole drilling is when the installer drills holes through your concrete and installs the legs into them. This is a more expensive option than the plated system. This is the only option available when installing a Hills product onto a concrete slab or path.
