Message September 27, 2024 ד״פשת לולא ד''כ ךליו-םיבצנ תשרפ EMULATE US 6:14 PMDear Parents,The possuk in this week’s Parsha reads: תרחבו הללקו הכרבה ךינפל יתתנ תומהו םייחה ךערזו התא היחת ןעמל םייחב. I have placed before you life and death, blessing and curse. You shall choose life so that you should live; you and your offspring. Moshe has stated that the alternative to life is death. Would it then have been sufficient for the Torah to then simply write, choose life? Why is it necessary to caution that one should choose life “so that you and your offspring will live”. It seems superfluous. Rav Moshe Feinstein ztz”l explains that Moshe Rabeinu was not explaining why one should choose life, or to spell out the self-evident consequences if one does not choose life. Rather, he was adding critical information. He was exhorting us about the type of life one should choose: namely, a derech that results in our children following in our footsteps. Yiddishkeit needs to be full of enthusiasm, richness, םייחה תחמש and enjoyment. When our lives are like this, our children will automatically want to emulate and follow in our footsteps. It is before Rosh Hashana and Klal Yisrael hasn’t experienced a year like this past year for a very long time. It behooves us to be introspective, and mispallel forYeshuos Yisrael היתוללקו הנש הלכתתבש טוג!הבוט המיתחו הביתכRabbi Ochs● Oct 2-4 - (Erev) Rosh Hashanah, No schoolOct 11 - Erev Yom Kippur, No schoolOct 15- Oct 27 - Sukkos break, No schoolSun, Nov 3 - Rebbeim mtg. 11:30 dismissal- UPDATEDWed, Nov 6 - GS staff mtg, 3PM dismissal all gradesFri, Nov 8 - Short Friday dismissal starts, Hamilton 1:20, Williston 1:30

Teachers, special educators, and administrators use the data to guide instruction, flag students for further testing, and assess overall classroom instruction from year to year. Aimsweb assessments are administered three times each year.● We are excited to announce that we got new extensive kriah assessments this year from Torah Umesorah. All students grades 1-8 have or will be scanned for this academic year!● On Friday, the 8th grade girls "broke-out" their G.O. theme- "G.O. Beyond Your Wildest Dreams." The incredible hard work and talent of the 8th graders shone with their spectacular song and dance, as well as costumes, backdrop, and adorable keychains with G.O. logos that they gave out to all the girls in grades 1-7. (Song lyrics, dance choreography, costume design, logo graphics, and keychain assembly were all done by our very capable 8th graders.) We are looking forward to a year "wild" with Ruach!● 7B created blueprints and then started creating their model artifact out of bars of soap- finding that flaws in the material and tools added a new level of challenge to the work. Still, rather than washing out, they kept working and have impressive samples to show off.● Boys who completed their summer kriah booklet got their special award and prize at lunch. Yashar Koach to all the boys who worked hard over the summer!● On Thursday, boys who completed their math packets were treated to delicious pizza! Next week, the boys that returned their summer reading logs will get ice cream sandwiches! This summer Williston read 211 books! Keep up the good work!● Mazal tov to Shayna Frager (5G) who won the summer reading raffle (Gift certificate to the Israel Bookshop) and to Bella Hedvat (2G) who won the summer math raffle (Amazon gift card)!Uniform Gemach AnnouncementThe make-up (and final) girls' Aerobics & Movement afterschool class will take place this Monday, April 24th Mazel Tov!
