Message May 9, 2025 ה״פשת רייא א''י םישודק-תומ ירחא תשרפ Dear Parents,One of the many mitzvos of this week’s Parsha is the mitzvah of orlah: םכל ׳יהי םינש שלש לכאי אל םילרע – for the first three years of a tree’s growth, the fruits of that tree are forbidden and should not be eaten. ׳הל םילולה שדק וירפ לכ ׳יהי תיעיברה הנשבו – and in the fourth year of the tree’s growth, the fruit is שדוק and can only be eaten within the walls of Yerushalayim. This is referencing the mitzvah of יעבר עטנ – the fruit of the fourth year of the tree’s growth has the same תוכלה as ינש רשעמ. The Ramban writes that part of the reason for this mitzvah is because the fruit of a new tree is of inferior quality and quantity during the first three years of its growth. It is only in the fourth year since a tree’s planting that it begins to produce superior fruit that is sweet and tasty. These are the fruits that we use to perform the mitzvah of יעבר עטנ. The שרדמ in רבדמב provides an alternate טשפ in this mitzvah. The purpose of הלרע and טענ יעבר is to instill within us the הדימ of patience. Human nature seeks immediate gratification. The Torah therefore requires us to wait three entire years until the fruit of newly planted trees can be eaten. A human being is compared to tree – הדשה ץע םדאה יכ. The fruit of the tree is a לשמ to our children. We all want our children to be well-adjusted, healthy, resilient and successful adults. One of the qualities necessary for successful chinuch is patience. A child’s development and emotional growth takes time and maturity. Each child needs to be nurtured and guided according to his/her potential, and patience is integral. As a great mechanech once stated: “רעטעפש ראי א טימ לודג א ןייז טעוו רע – he will become a לודג one year later – don’t pressure him unnecessarily.Thank you to all the guests for joining us for Grandparents and special friends day. We are thrilled to have you and hope you enjoyed spending quality time with your grandchildren.Continued Yiddish תחנ from them. תבש טוג Rabbi Ochs 7:35 PM● Sun, May 18 - Torah Academy Auction (women only)Mon, May 26 - 12:00 Hamilton dismissal, 12:15 - Williston dismissalWed, May 28 - GS staff meeting, 3PM dismissal all gradesSun, June 1 - regular scheduleJune 2-3 - No school, ShavuosWed, June 4 - Late start at 10:15 AMSun, June 8 - Rebbeim mtg, dism. 11:30June 15- Girls graduationJune 16 - Boys graduationJune 19 - Last day of school, 12:00 Hamilton dismissal, 12:15 - Williston dismissalPATIENCE
