Message May 23, 2025 ה״פשת רייא ה''כ יתקחב-רהב תשרפ Dear Parents,In this week’s Parsha the pesukim reads: םתוא םתישעו ורמשת יטפשמ תאו יתוקוח תא םתישעו הילע חטבל םתבשיו עבשל םתלכאו הירפ תא ץראה הנתנו .חטבל ץראה לע םתבשיו. You shall perform my decrees, observe my laws, and you shall dwell securely in the land. The land will produce fruit, you will eat and be satiated, and you will dwell securely upon it.Both pesukim conclude with the promise of a secure dwelling. The difference between the two pesukim is that the first possuk conditions the security on performing the decrees and observing the laws. Why then was it necessary to repeat the promise of security twice? The words הילע חטבל םתבשיו should have been written after the second possuk? The Meshech Chochma answers that there are two factors that will generate animosity between two nations. The first cause of friction and tension is religious and cultural differences. The second is if one nation is more prosperous than the other. The two promises of security in the pesukim address both these issues.First, the Torah promises us that although we will be devoted to Torah and Mitzvos in contrast to the surrounding nations, it will not arouse animosity, and we will dwell securely in our land. Secondly, although we will enjoy great prosperity, this too will not lead to any aggression from neighboring nations, and we will be secure. We see this idea reiterated in Sefer Yechezkel: יתתנ רשא םתמדא לע ובשיו םיוגה יניעל םב יתשדקנו חטבל ובשיו םימרכ ועטנו םיתב ונבו חטבל הילע ובשיו .בקעי ידבעל.. Here too, when Hashem’s name is sanctified by Klal Yisrael and we adhere to the Torah, we are promised security in the land, and that we will be prosperous, we won’t arouse animosity and we will dwell securely. The Torah and Navi are clearly stating that contrary to those who believe that the more we integrate with and act like the surrounding nations the more we will be in their favor, the opposite is true. When we adhere to Torah and Mitzvos, even prosperity won’t generate animosity, and we will be completely secure in Eretz Yisroel.תבש טוג Rabbi Ochs 7:49 PM● Mon, May 26 - 12:00 Hamilton dismissal, 12:15 - Williston dismissalWed, May 28 - GS staff meeting, 3PM dismissal all gradesSun, June 1 - regular scheduleJune 2-3 - No school, ShavuosWed, June 4 - Late start at 10:15 AMSun, June 8 - Rebbeim mtg, dism. 11:30June 15- Girls graduationJune 16 - Boys graduationJune 19 - Last day of school, 12:00 Hamilton dismissal, 12:15 - Williston dismissalOPPOSITE IS TRUE
