Message March 7, 2025 ה״פשת רדא 'ז הוצת תשרפ UNDERSTANDING OUR DUAL MISSION 5:24 PMDear Parents,One of the הנוהכ ידגב discussed in Parshas Tetzaveh is the דופא. The possuk reads: תא תמשו ןורכיזל ויפתכ יתש לע ׳ה ינפל םתומש תא ןרהא אשנו לארשי ינבל ןורכז ינבא דפאה תפתכ לע םינבאה יתש. On the shoulder straps of the דופא were two identical םהש stones, one on each stone. The names of six םיטבש were engraved on each of the stones. The ןשח was attached to the דופא. It consisted of twelve unique stones with the name of a single shevet written on each stone. Both sets of names were worn by the לודג ןהכ.The two sets of stones represent the two qualities of לארשי ללכ. On one hand, לארשי ללכ is part of one unit – represented by the identical םהש stones. At the same time, each shevet has its individual character and mission within לארשי ללכ. This is reflected by the twelve unique stones of the ןשח. Why was it necessary for the לודג ןהכ to wear both sets when he did the הדובע?The Kedushas Levi explains this by noting that the םינהכ in general, and the לודג ןהכ in particular need a constant reminder that although they have been separated from the general רוביצ to perform the הדובע, they are not detached from לארשי ללכ who they are representing. The הדובע must be performed on behalf of Klal Yisrael and for their ultimate benefit. The Kohanim are messengers for the Klal as represented by the םהש ינבא, as well as the for the individual member of Klal Yisrael as reflected by the םיאולמ ינבא .The לודג ןהכ wore the ץיצ across his forehead. Engraved on it were the words ׳הל שדק. The meforshim wonder why the Torah requires this engraving if the pesukim already inform us that the הנוהכ ידגב are holy. The ש”שר in הכוס תכסמ explains that ׳הל שדוק is not referencing the םידגב but is referring to the names of the shevatim that are engraved on the ןשח and םהש ינבא. It is לארשי ללכ who is ׳הל שדוק.When the kohanim understand their mission to the ללכ and טרפ and when each of us understand our dual responsibility to ourselves and to the ללכ then we become ׳הל שדוק. תבש טוג Rabbi Ochs PS- I’m looking forward to seeing your children in costumes at my home on Purim day at 6 Portina Rd, Brighton MA ● Thurs, Mar 13 - Taanis Esther, 12:00 dismissal for 6-8G, 12:30 - for 6-8BMarch 14-16 - No SchoolWed, March 19 - GS staff meeting, 3PM Dismissal all studentsWed, March 19 - 4:30 PM The UNCLE MOISHY benefit concert!Fri, Mar 21 -Long Friday dismissal startsSun, Mar 23 -Rebbeim mtg, 11:30 dismissalMon, April 7 - 4PM 6-8B dismissalApril 8-21 - No school, PesachWed, April 30 - GS staff meeting, 3PM dismissal all grades
