True Life6:21PMDear Parents,In Parshas Nitzavim, the possuk states: םלוע דע וננבלו ונל תולגנהו וניקולא ׳הל תורתסנה. That which is hidden is the province of Hashem, and that which is revealed is ours, and our children’s responsibility forever. The word וננבלו is written in the Torah with dots above the word. The Belzer Rebbe ל״צז explains this possuk שורד ךרדב: If we, the parents, perform our Mitzvos privately, then they will be וניקולא ׳הל - only Hashem will know of them. However, if we openly demonstrate our mitzvah performance to our children, and live a life of Torah values, then The impact of our mitzvos will last for eternity, and the flame of observance will be carried for generations. So much of chinuch is not predicated on what we demand from our children, but rather on how we model behavior.Further in the parsha, the possuk reads: היחת ןעמל םייחב תרחבו הללקהו הכרבה ךינפל יתתנ תומהו םייחה ךערזו התא. I, Hashem, have placed life and death before you, choose life so that you and your children will live. Rav Moshe Feinstein ל״צז questions why the Torah, once it presented the alternative to life as death, needed to reiterate that if you choose life, you and and your children will live. That should be self-evident. He answers by explaining that Moshe Rabeinu was describing the type of life we should choose - a lifestyle that will lead to our children following in our ways and continuing to live a Torah lifestyle. As we approach Rosh HaShana and we ask Hashem to inscribe us in the םייחה רפס, we should beseech Hashem that we merit a life of true life - a life where we will be connected to Him and live a lifestyle of וננבלו ונל.. Rabbi Ochs ● We celebrated with the Summer Kriah Learners at the Williston building with pizza.
