BTS Biblical Counseling Mission BTS and You BTS offers programs in The Biblical Counseling program at BTS is taught from a biblical theological framework and believes in the su ciency of Scripture for addressing the problems of the human condition speci cally in relationship to heart issues We seek to develop graduates who are experts in counseling ministry empathetic shepherds who stand on rm theological footing and those who are committed to the shepherding ministry of the local church Our prayer is that this program will spawn a resurgence of counseling ministries that are located in the local church BTS is a icted with and is a certi ed training center of ACBC Association of Certi ed Biblical Counselors and is also a liated with IABC International Association of Biblical Counselors Lay Counselor Training Master of Arts in Biblical Counseling 62 hours 31 classes Doctor of Ministry in Biblical Counseling BTS is a Certi ed ACBC Association of Certi ed Biblical Counselors Training Center and has incorporated signi cant elements of ACBC counselor certi cation into our MA program All programs are available for on site and distance education students
BTS Counseling Distinctives Methodological Theological Practitioner Instructor Led Our counseling faculty has more than 100 cumulative years of counseling practice Biblical Theological Framework Biblical counseling at BTS is thoroughly rooted in a biblical theological construct Su ciency of Scripture God s word addresses all the problems created because of our fallen condition Engaging Contemporary Issues While our faculty is thoroughly committed to the Scriptures and historic evangelical theology they are also engaging with the contemporary issues of the twenty rst century and keeping students informed of current research trends and issues that must be addressed theologically and in practice The Heart of Human Problems is the Heart We do not believe that su ciency of Scripture is a medical solution for genuine medical issues but it is the su cient tool to address the heart issues associated with the medical issues Likewise it is su cient to address relational personal and practical issues of sancti cation Church Ministry Oriented We are committed to preparing our graduates to work within the context of the local church Both as counselors and as trainers and coaches for the shepherding ministry of the local church

Core Faculty Dr Cheryl Blackmon Dr Stephen Cloud Stephen Cloud is a Certi ed Biblical Counselor through Biblical Counseling Institute Riley Center at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and Association of Certi ed Biblical Counselors ACBC He received a Doctor of Ministry degree from Beeson Divinity School at Samford University in Birmingham Alabama Dr Cheryl Blackmon is a certi ed member of ACBC and a lay counselor at Briarwood Presbyterian Church She previously served as the Coordinator of Counseling and Women and Children s Counselor at Briarwood with Dr Howard Eyrich as Director Dr Blackmon holds M Ed Ed S and Ed D degrees in education and leadership For over 30 years she has served as a teacher curriculum developer and principal Dr Howard Eyrich Dr Chesley Peed Chesley Peed is the Women s Children s Counselor and Counseling Coordinator at Briarwood Presbyterian Church in Birmingham Alabama and certi ed member of ACBC She enjoys encouraging and equipping those in ministry to become biblical counselors In her spare time she delights in traveling spending time with family and being outside with her golden retriever Dr Eyrich holds the status of Honorable Retired on his Presbytery Register He serves as the Director of the DMin and MA in Biblical Counseling conducts an active counseling ministry and supervises ACBC Phase III aspiring counselors He and his wife Pamela mentor young pastors and wives and conduct in church seminars on Parenting Your Parents They engage in encouraging their children and grandchildren enjoy riding antique railroads and HO railroad modeling
