BEING HUMAN Who Do You Think You Are? Introducing psychology into financial attitudes and decisions begs a deeper question: What does it mean to be human? This module engages with neuroscience, biology, and evolutionary psychology to reveal who we really are and why it ultimately matters for achieving funded contentment. KNOW THYSELF It all starts with you Emotional Intelligence (EQ) is your superpower as a modern financial advisor. It is a framework that empowers us to compete and flourish in the face of steep challenges. Raising your EQ begins with self-examination. In this module, we will be exploring the first two foundational dimensions of Emotional Intelligence: Self-Awareness and Self-Management.IN THIS MODULE WE’LL COVER: ‣A fulsome, operational definition of emotional intelligence (EQ) and how to leverage its power. ‣Strengthen your self-awareness and get to know yourself from the inside out through strengthened self-awareness. ‣Develop strategies to regulate your emotions in service of your goals, particularly the relationship between trigger and response. ‣The importance of advisor wellbeing. Motivated by psychology, neuroscience, literature, philosophy, and sociology, this module sets out a framework for how to think about a meaningful life, including money’s role in it. We delve deeply into the nuances of "funded contentment" and your roles as a guide in achieve it.IN THIS MODULE WE’LL COVER: ‣The 3,000-year history of the idea “happiness.” ‣An introduction to various models of human flourishing, drawing from the rich tradition of positive psychology. ‣The "happiness equation": The importance of setting and managing expectations relative to the actual reality of our daily lives. ‣How to speak with clients about the four sources of contentment or life satisfaction that should precede specific financial decisions. ‣How money buys happiness–or not!
