To validate a sufficient number of completed assessment tasks ASQA recommend the use of statistical sampling through a Sample Size Calculator can determine the sample size required. This RTO, due to its size and the number of units of competency delivered in a 12-month period, have implemented the use of systematic sampling using the following calculations: - For each qualification on it scope of registration, this RTO will validate at least 25% of the units of competency that make up that qualification. - For each unit of competency selected for validation, this RTO will select a random sample of 35% of the enrolments in that unit of competency from the last 12 months for which judgements were made (either competent, not yet competent, RPL etc.). In addition, some assessments are negotiated with the students as to mutually convenient times.
