DESIGN CHALLENGEPROBLEM STATEMENT01The 18,000 square foot building for Boeing’s newly formed Global Services division headquarters is going to be holding 75 employees on a regular basis. Currently headquarters is not designed to Post-COVID regulations, allowing only a percentage of the people to work in the ofce. Implementation of post-COVID design and designing for employee health and comfort will enable all 75 people to return to the ofce, providing a feeling of safety for any future unprecedented illness. Post COVID design, moving forward, will emphasize healthier and greener spaces, while maintaining a sustainable environment aligning directly with Boeing’s mission.By implementing the WELL Building Standards, post-COVID design principles, acoustics, and waynding the ofce space can be used more frequently without hesitation. Maximizing a clean and comfortable environment will increase the employee’s mood and productivity. The ofce space will be a cleaner, more comfortable space to work in allowing all 75 employees to work in the ofce regularly and productively.

INSPIRATION + CONCEPT

Page 14

INSPIRATION + CONCEPTBOEING’S INNOVATION:There is more innovation happening today than anytime in the past 101-year history. Boeing transforms design and products to work more efciently. Boeing solves difcult, real-world problems through the passion the Boeing employees embody when developing innovations. Passenger Airplanes:Boeing is making safe and healthy ying their top priority. Through cabin air ltration, cabin disinfectant, and technology through research. Commercial:Older planes can be parked in a parking lot in the desert or be saved and be transformed into freighters. Boeing takes passenger airplanes and turn them into cargo airplanes. The freighter conversion doubles the life of passenger airplanes. +Seats, slow bins come out + Install new doors +Change oor +No robots are used. All manual conversion.Defense:Every military relies on satellites. WGS is the backbone for these satellites. One satellite will not do the work, so Boeing has a network of them to protect the military through communication anytime anywhere.Space:The Juno mission powers a space mission to other planets by the most far out use of solar cells. Solar power on an aircraft because they are light weight and efcient. Juno was built at Boeing and landed on Jupiter in 2016. Takes a lot of measurements of Jupiter’s atmosphere. Environment:The Boeing ecoDemonstrator Program is testing different ways to use data to save fuel and ying time. Data comes from satellites and sensors. EcoDemonstrator helps the environment and help accelerate technology. +Saves fuel07

Page 15

Concept Statement:My design will be carried through Boeing’s connection with innovation. The design will be centered around what Boeing is all about to connect the employees with the ideas and products of their company. Through passenger airplanes, commercial, defense, space, and environment innovation, I will implement a healthy innovative environment. Transformable spaces, network based collaboration, efcient movement, and environmental friendly materials and principles will all be applied to the design. Driving the idea of constantly moving forward and connection will be presented throughout my project. 08
