About the Board Our Mission CommUnity Crisis Services and Food Bank formerly The Crisis Center has an active and committed volunteer board of directors whose role is to de ne the organization s mission and govern the realization of that mission The board meets nine times a year to determine policies and procedures review nancial health and monitor progress toward the achievement of strategic objectives for the agency Board terms are for 3 years with option for renewal 6 years CommUnity Crisis Services and Food Bank is a volunteer driven organization that provides immediate and non judgmental support for individuals facing emotional food or financial crisis About Committees Standing committees meet once a month to discuss topics relevant to the scope of the committee Each board member is assigned to a Our Vision Every individual in our community has support in a time of need Our Values Individuals self identify as in need and selfselect for CommUnity services We protect the privacy of the individuals we serve Clients come first no bureaucratic barriers to delivering support We make the most efficient use of our resources Volunteers are the heart of the organization committee and committees may also include members at large community members who want to help the organization through active committee involvement Advocacy Development Finance Governance Program Oversight CommUnity employs and assists people without regard to race national origin color creed religion sex age mental or physical disability veteran status sexual orientation gender identity associational preference marital status and familial status or any classi cation that would deprive the person of consideration as an individual CommUnity af rms its commitment to providing equal opportunities and equal access to agency programs and services Board of Directors and Committee Members at Large To apply to the board or a committee visit builtbycommunity org board

Board Member Expectations Serve actively for the duration of your term Attend and participate in board meetings live or via Web meeting o 9 meetings a year usually no meetings July December March o Typically the fourth Wednesday of each month from 5 30 7 00pm o Review materials in advance Serve on a committee and support that committee s efforts for the organization o Committees meet once a month at a predetermined date and time Support development fundraising efforts o Donate to the organization in a value that is meaningful to you o Fill 10 seats at the annual Hunger Banquet o Provide recommendations for potential sponsor or donors o Assist with thank you outreach for donor contributions Serve as a positive representative of the organization o Attend or volunteer at special events annual Pancake Breakfast Hunger Banquet Project Holiday o Participate in local community events or meetings as requested o Advocate for the organization when where possible o Identify and recruit new Board members matching the needs of the board The Process Board and committee vacancies are lled throughout the year as needed To be considered for the Board or a committee please download an application from builtbycommunity org board Complete and return the application to the Executive Director It will be provided to the Governance Committee for initial review A member of the Governance Committee will reach out to you to discuss Board or committee responsibilities and answer any questions you may have Committee applications are approved by the Board chair If approved you will be contacted by the committee chair for orientation and to share the meeting schedule Board applications will be reviewed and voted on by the Board If approved a board orientation will be conducted a board buddy will be provided and your committee assignment will be generated Your rst year is considered your onboarding year Do not be afraid to ask questions or get involved as a volunteer Our Core Services Crisis Phone Chat Text Mobile Crisis Outreach Support Groups Suicide Prevention Training Food Bank Mobile Food Pantry Basic Needs Program Our Impact Figures based off July 2019 June 2020 1 100 families served each week 2 000 000 pounds of food distributed 27 000 food assists to children
