Our mission Training young dancers We support young talents and train them with the greatest respect for the discipline of Classical Ballet and Contemporary Dance Passion discipline and professionalism Create present interpret and preserve the classical and contemporary dance repertoire Train and support young talents in their passion Brussels International Ballet is one of the most important Classical Ballet Schools in Europe highly respected and recognized in the dance industry We aim to develop the classical and contemporary dance with both Belgian and international young dancers Brussels International Ballet grants particular importance to strengthen and 4 support the passion for Classical Dance by transmitting to dancers not only passion but also enthusiasm pride discipline and professionalism that are necessary for any career in this field We pass on to young dancers passion enthusiasm pride and discipline Or in other words the professionalism Our various dance education sections allow young talents to learn to become future hopes and improve in order to integrate into internationally renowned Classical Ballet Companies 5

Our history Passion Work and Perseverance make Brussels International Ballet one of the most prestigious classical ballet and contemporary dance schools PASSION In 2005 Anderson Santana created Brussels International Ballet School in Brussels The School welcomed and trained young dancers from age 8 through different sections Eveil Etudes and Sup rieur Anderson Santana first wanted to prove to himself his ability to teach and to coach young future dancers Anderson Santana surrounded by a growing artistic team has always had the goal and vocation to teach dance in the greatest respect for tradition as he himself had the chance to discover Be passionate WORK In view of the excellent results obtained in just a few years it became clear to him that the creation of a superior dance section was essential Thus was born the Professional Intensive Training Program Over the years young talents have expressed the need to move towards semiprofessional or vocational education which has involved another dimension a new structure was conducted to move towards a direction that allows us to provide a framework adapted to the highest level of dance In 2012 Anderson Santana decided to transfer his school to a new infrastructure which then benefited from 3 big dance studios located near the European Commission in Brussels The School was inaugurated in the presence of several personalities including Benoit Cerexhe the Bourgmestre of Woluw Saint Pierre who became and remains an important support for the School Thanks to the excellent location of the studios Anderson Santana was also able to negotiate a partnership with a boarding school to allow international professional students to be comfortably housed during the Summer Intensive programs PERSEVERANCE In 2013 Anderson Santana started a professional section to give young dancers Belgian and international students the opportunity to develop their potential and successfully integrate into famous international dance companies in countries such as Russia Bulgaria Canada USA United Kingdom and others Be proud The idea was thus born to transform the Academic School by adding a professional superior teaching section to adapt the development of the school to a very present international demand Inspire Courses have been developed to meet these needs and after much reflection 6 7

Anderson Santana Artistic Direction Dancer choreographer Artistic Director and founder of Brussels International Ballet Member of the International Dance Council CID UNESCO Graduate of Artistic Education approved since 1996 by the General Service of Artistic Education Anderson Santana Founder and Artistic Director 8 Kazuko Sumimoto Co founder Vice Director THE DANCER THE CHOREOGRAPHER Born in Brazil Anderson Santana began his studies at the National School of Rio de Janeiro School Maria Olenewa of the Municipal Theater by Edmundo Carijo and at the School of Tatiana Leskova In 1998 Anderson choreographed his first ballet Dark evenings in Belgium Later that year he travelled to the US to work as a classical ballet teacher in Boston and to study the Maria Fay s method in New York In 1985 the emerging dancer began his professional career with the Ballet Municipal de Campinas in Brazil and danced as corps de ballet demi soloist and soloist in Don Quichotte Swan Lake Giselle Romeo Juliette From 1999 until 2005 he made various creations for professional academies and solos for dancers In 2003 he made a new ballet La rage du peuples and in 2005 he created the choreographies for Praga Khan s The Next Dimension His meeting with Maurice B jart gave a decisive turn to his career The famous choreographer impressed by Anderson s talent and passion invited him to Belgium to join the 20th Century Ballet FOUNDING BRUSSELS INTERNATIONAL BALLET SCHOOL Soon after Anderson travelled to Europe to pursue his professional career He started to work with the Scala Theatre in Switzerland then joined the European tour of West Side Story and Jesus Christ Superstar with the Broadway Musical Company from New York where he completed his artistic style Later he joined the Brussels Ratlas Dance Company in Belgium and in the following years he worked with The Royal Ballet of Flanders the Ballet du Nord and the Royal Ballet of Wallonia to name a few In 2005 driven by his enthusiasm energy and desire to convey his passion for dance Anderson Santana founded the Brussels International Ballet School BIB in Brussels where his artistic history began He invests all his energy so that the young dancers who integrate into the ballet school can reach a high level and demonstrate the artistic talent of Belgium Since 2009 many students have won first place prizes as well as scholarships and internships 9

THE ARTISTIC DIRECTOR Always keeping the transmission of passion for dance to young students Anderson continued his primary mission to train future talents who will join international companies In 2013 he decided to establish a Professional Section within BIB to give Belgian and international students the opportunity to develop their potential and then be able to join the most prestigious ballet companies in the world He is passionate he is respected in the dance world and he has an overall vision that continuously aims to improve the discipline of dance INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION There is a strong classical base that enables the dancers to always reach excellence This hard work has paid off by excellent results at international competitions 1st prize and distinction Chausson d or Paris YAGP Monaco Ballettschule Hamburg John Neumeye Moscow Varna Bulgarie Helsinki Brussels International Ballet has certainly one of the most important palmares in Belgium of 1st prizes and International Scholarships and those results demonstrate that the level of competencies of BIB s students is excellent Anderson Santana s vision creativity involvement humanity and dedication to the art of classical dance were brought to light when Anderson was selected by the organisation of YAGP Youth America Grand Prix in 2013 and by VKIBC Valentina Kozlova International Ballet Competition in 2015 to coordinate the semi finals of the world s largest student ballet scholarship competitions in Brussels 10 BIBS studios welcomed and hosted all guest teachers and students from all around the world Several students of BIB finished the competition in the top 12 Since then Anderson Santana is regularly invited to different International Competitions in Europe in the United States and in Asia as a member of international juries KAZUKO SUMIMOTO Co founder Vice Director of BIB Kazuko Sumimoto started her ballet education in 1979 at the Tokiwa Ballet School in Tokyo Japan Between 1981 1984 she attended the Momoko Ballet School where she studied the Vaganova method She continued her training with famous teachers former soloists and principals of renowned companies in Japan and Europe From 1984 to 1996 she worked as a professional dancer with the Momoko Tani Ballet Company in Tokyo and danced in various classical production such as Don Quichotte Swan Lake Nutcracker Giselle The Sylphides She worked with the Japan Ballet Association and participated at various Ballet Festivals in Japan as a guest dancer 2019 Anderson Santana with Val rie Glatigny Minister of Higher Education In 2005 she started teaching at the former Mandorla Ballet School in Brussels Belgium where she first met Anderson Santana who was the Director of the school Anderson and Kazuko founded Brussels International Ballet School at a new location in 2011 She is not only co founder and vice director but also one of the motivated teachers of BIB s artistic team regularly coaching students for ballet competitions and is currently the main rehearsal mistress of the Professional Training Program 11

Professional Intensive Training Program TO SUCCEED Professional Intensive Training Program PTP to become a professional dancer Classical dance education on the highest level from 14 years old The main mission of Brussels International Ballet is to perpetuate the heritage of classical and contemporary dance This heritage is passed on in the movements of our young dancers today This is why we are proud to be able to offer superior higher education At Brussels International Ballet classical ballet and contemporary dance education is more than purely technical This not only rests on technical capacities and an 12 adapted morphology but also on artistic potential combining personal expression and interpretation The Artistic Director surrounded by instructors choreographers and invited international dancers during the year together dedicate their experience and their respective talents to encourage our young talented dance enthusiasts and help them make their dream become their dream become reality 13

PROFESSIONNAL INTENSIVE TRAINING PROGRAM AN EXCLUSIVE SUPERIOR DANCE TRAINING PROGRAM Launched in 2013 this program welcomes each year over 40 Belgian and international students whose objective is to integrate into international ballet companies This higher dance education program takes place on a minimum three year course with an annual Aptitude test allowing based on the results obtained to move on to the next year At the same time students pursue general academic education by correspondence CNED to offer future graduates the best career prospects This training program is designed to meet the needs of talented and committed students aged 14 19 who seek the highest level of classical ballet training to prepare for a professional career 14 Working daily under Anderson Santana s artistic direction and his faculty s careful guidance students develop the essential skills to fully explore and realise their greatest individual potential This program is based on the Vaganova method a system of training that is logical thought provoking inspiring and highly effective In addition to daily classical technique lessons students are immersed in learning classical repertoire and are exposed to various workshops to develop fluency in various dance styles BE PASSIONATE INSPIRE BE PROUD 15

Audition and accommodation to join BIB The School is a few meters from the Municipal House and backs onto the Woluwe Saint Pierre Cultural Center thus benefiting from the W Halll stage The School is located in Woluw SaintPierre in a quiet and green area with many parks where students can relax after an intense day AFTER 3 YEARS OF STUDY GRADUATES JOIN PROFESSIONAL BALLET COMPANIES Accommodation Depending on the student s choice he she decides on the type of accommodation host family roommate rooming house studio single apartment etc Over 80 of students who graduate after three years of the Professional Intensive Training Program achieve their contract and start their professional career The student and or parents are responsible for organizing accommodation The school can however provide contacts for international students to help you find accommodation During their 3 years of study the students of the professional training program are regularly prepared and presented to the various auditions of the largest international dance companies Proposals for host families and other accommodation solutions are always welcome for the School which does not benefit from any subsidy or housing assistance for students Anderson Santana assisted by the entire teaching team regularly invites international choreographers and dancers to workshops to prepare students for their future professional careers Registrations and auditions for the Professional Intensive Training Program are open to applicants between the ages of 14 19 PARTICIPATION IN INTERNATIONAL COMPETITIONS Requests for an audition can be made via the following By email with the duly completed registration form with photos and video links to the following addresses info brusselsintballet org audition biballet org By private audition send an email to info brusselsintballet org During the auditions that take place during the Summer Intensive Program By sending the registration form by post attaching the photos and video on a DVD to the school address All the information can be found on our website www brusselsintballet org 20 The selected students are prepared from admission to the Professional Training Program for international competitions Since the creation of the Professional Intensive Training Program young dancers have been able to stand out among hundreds of others and have won numerous prizes as well as numerous grants and contracts to join international dance companies 21

Summer Program Each year we welcome more than 80 young talents to the summer program which takes place in Brussels from July August Famous classical and contemporary teachers such as Irek Moukhamedov Amanda Bennett Irina Zavialova Rafael Sady Geraldine Meslier Roberto Altamura Luca Cesa and many others have taught in previous intensive summer programs The 9th edition of the Summer Intensive Program takes place from 25 July to 6 August 6 2022 The course welcomes young talented dancers aged 13 21 The Summer Intensive Program is a unique opportunity to work with our world famous guest teachers with one on one support in a friendly positive atmosphere Brussels International Ballet s Summer Intensive Program has become a wellknown destination for some of the most talented students from Europe America Japan Latin America Canada and Australia 26 27
