CURATOR S STATEMENT In December 2016 I was fortunate enough to visit the exhibitions of famous Art Basel Miami Beach There were so many beautiful works by many famous artists and there were many portraits of people but I really was surprised at the lack of dog portraits Yet there were a few interesting works and I took video of that visit to share with you as part of this exhibit Still I wanted to create an exhibition that really speaks to me as a dog I invited my friend Eric Ginsburg a NY based artist that truly understands the value and importance of dogs in this world to share his works with you Together we are proud to present in the Underground Gallery Everyone Loves the Underdog Watch out Art Basel here we come Katie Hepburn Plutzik Canine Executive Officer The Betsy South Beach

ABOUT THE ARTIST Eric Ginsburg a native of Washington D C attended college at New York University NYU where he first discovered his love for teaching At NYU s Gallatin School of Individualized Study It was also at NYU that Eric took his first painting class It was through the guidance of his teacher that Eric discovered his love for the arts The synthesis of these experiences inspired Eric to pursue art education as the perfect combination of his two passions While he continues to teach his art work is part of many public and private collections around the world including at the Corrie Ten Boom House He has exhibited extensively with such prestigious organizations as The Phillips Collection and the New York Public Library Eric is also the Founder and Director of The Fridge Art Fair a tongue in cheek response to the more established Frieze Art Fair in New York City The Fridge Art Fair has exhibited in New York and Miami and will soon expand to Detroit Learn more about why Eric paints dogs at his website EricsWorldofDogs com Works are available for purchase with a portion of sales benefitting the Zara s Center for AIDS Impacted Children in Bulawayo Zimbabwe supported by the Plutzik Goldwasser Family Foundation See the Concierge or Front Desk for assistance or email Jean Blackwell Font at jean thebetsyhotel com Eric Ginsberg is available for commissioned dog portraits For assistance contact jean thebetsyhotel com
