VStyle Productions is an entertainment Production Company focusing on media and live events. The “V” in VStyle stands for Visual. Owner Althea Blackford created VStyle Productions in 2009. Althea believes that every vision has its own style and she wants to bring it to life.

Being in the world of modeling, a door opened up for her to express her creativity. She has been a freelance choreographer/coordinator for numerous local fashion shows in the Boston area. With her degree in Communications with a concentration in television production and another degree in Entertainment Management, Althea continues her main career goal of being an executive television producer of her own show and live fashion events.

In 2005 Althea Blackford created the local fashion television show Style It Up, which profiles fashion designers, industry professionals, and local fashion events in the New England. Style It Up is a weekly fashion show that gives viewers an insider’s scoop to the New England fashion industry. VStyle Productions also partnered with The Foundation for a Green Future to produce the outdoor eco-fashion fashion show, Elements of Design. In addition to help produce numerous local fashion projects from film to live events in the New England area.

In 2013 Boston Caribbean Fashion Week was created. The goal for the fashion week is to showcase the Caribbean culture in Boston through fashion from the costume designers to clothing designers. This event provided Althea with the opportunity to showcase her many talents working in the entertainment industry and show an appreciation for her Caribbean heritage.

about Boston Caribbean Fashion Week

Boston Caribbean Fashion Week is a week long series of diverse nightlife events celebrating caribbean culture in the greater Boston area. Every night is a different experience, from fashion & beauty to culture and lifestyle themed events featuring live entertainment , local cuisine, and premier vendors. The fashion week is held every year in August during the same time when many of Boston's Major caribbean events are taking place. This year’s events took place during the week of August 9 –13, 2017 and our event lineup consisted of an opening night kickoff party at Darryl's Corner Bar & Kitchen in Boston, a beauty night at Tiffany's Transformations in Hyde Park, a cultural night at the Boston Common Hotel, a fashion presentation also at the Boston Common Hotel, and a designer networking workshop at Bay State College.

Boston Caribbean Fashion Week X The ICA

 First Fridays: Hot Hot Hot

June 2, 2017

This sold out event was a beautiful night out on the Boston waterfront hosted at the Institute of Contemporary Art. At this mix & mingle event we showcased caribbean culture to the public. We had a feature live-model fashion instillation by designer Claude Michelle, a carnival costume presentation, and a dance performance by Island Vybe Fitness. Entertainment for the night was accompanied by a specialty horderves menu & bar friendly to the 21+ crowd as well as a guest dj.

This was a free event tailored to young adults ages 13-18 years old to explore various career paths in the fashion industry including modeling, marketing, entrepreneurship, fashion design, fashion production, & beauty and engage with industry professionals through interactive workshop seminars, closing off the session with a panel discussion covering popular topics, sharing relevant experiences, addressing  FAQ's, & and offering invaluable advice to our attendees

We got things started off right this year at our BCFW opening night kickoff party at Darryl's Bar & Kitchen in Boston. This was an upscale yet social hour with dinner provided and and live jazz music on site for our guests to enjoy and get excited for the commencing of our 2017 fashion week.

 Beauty Night was a fun BCFW spa takeover at Tiffany's Transformations in Hyde Park. Specialty service offerings inlcuded $5 mini manicures (cut clean & color) and $15 facials (consultation, exfoliate, and cleanse). There was also a special presentation by Geraldine Legros of Glamour Up cosmetics speaking about the recent launch of her brand new collection; a bold, colorful, and cruelty free cosmetic line and a live makeup demo by Sparkle Thames using Glamour Up products. We also offered a 50/50 raffle donating half of the pot proceeds to to the Muscular Dystrophy Assoiciation. The night was all about coming out to relax, get in a little tlc, and enjoy good company, a true #treatyoself occasion.

A charity night event in collaboration with the MDA showcasing local talent and caribbean culture at the Boston Common Hotel. Live performances including singing & dancing acts and food & service venders. Our drink sponsor Sparkling Ice was also onsite providing an array of free beverages to our guests. Marsha Monelle was the event host and we were joined by special guest Keisha Greaves,state ambassador of the Muscular Dystrophy Association of Massachusetts.

Our fashion show was in high demand & sold out, featuring the following talented Designers & local business: Stephanie Raymond, Janéa Williams, Sharisse Scott-Rawlins, Ashanah Tripp, Khari Linton, Lina Linder, Sparkle Thames. We had vendor both for attendees to browse before our event got started and an intermission for guests to purchase delicious food from Supa bake a local catering company. Each guest went home with a gift bag of goodies including gift cards, and complementary items from brands such as Sephora, David's Tea, Victoria's Secret, Sweetgreen, Fire & Ice, and more as thank you from this night to remember.

Designers Meet & Greet

A Private Networking session for the designers from our Aug 12 fashion show to discuss relevant  techniques, practices, and problem solving skills in the industry. Forum was facilitated by industry leader, wardrobe stylist, and producer Terri Mahn of The Stylist Closet.
