Continent of Bartholemuel 

 My settlement (Blackwater), is a swampy, inland settlement with many nearby rivers and a very diverse biosphere. Blackwater is at the SouthWest portion of Bartholemuel, in between a few of the many rivers nearby, close to the coast, SouthEast of the Great Puddle, and SouthWest of the Range of Failure. Blackwater’s name is descriptive to the kind of water that they settlers saw all around them, being from all the mud and silt in the water.


The root language of Heffles can be traced back to a hearth in the mountains, where a migration downriver led, over a fair amount of generations, to the river delta at the South end of Bartholemuel. The culture of Blackwaterours is a tribal, or ritual hunting based society that ranks on isolated survival skills. Blackwaterours often use baits and traps to obtain food, but pure hunting is widely used as well. Herbal medicines are valuable because the environment does not grow them well. Clothes, traps, huts, and other material aspects have adapted to the environment by being tougher and more immune to water wear than other cultures might be.


The cultural boundaries of Blackwater are poorly defined and hazy because it is so isolated and confined by rivers that the boundaries do not extend upstream to the other settlements very much at all. For the same reason, Blackwater’s Sindarin language is hardly mutually intelligible with the languages of the other major cultures of the continent. However, another tribe (Wetbark) that broke off with the Blackwaterours early in migration downstream shared experiences when first arriving and gained some cultural common ground and became similarly mutually intelligible.


The reason for Blackwaterours to migrated was because of Blackwaterours hunting their major source of resources and food (the alligator) nearly into extinction. When desperate and hungry, the Blackwaterours sent a group out, which eventually came to Wetbark for refuge and guidance. Wetbark was in good trading relations with a settlement known as Crocodile Falls, which was across a large bodies of water that separated Wetbark from Crocodile falls. Unfortunately, up North was the horrendously large mountain ranges, so the Blackwaterours took a small party from Wetbark and ,using their guidance, traversed the sea into the the territory of Crocodile falls. (REASON FOR MIGRATION: Nearly exhausted resources.)


BLACKWATER, Bartholemuel

Bartholemuel was formed from three land masses colliding hundreds of thousands of years ago, two of the lane masses were claimed to be Bartholemuel when the aliens brought the Cade's people to our glorious lands, but the other was dominated by other inferior inhabitants. Two massive and steep continental mountain ranges have provided extreme isolation from cultures on the opposite sides. Bartholemuel alone has an arid climate, temperate climate, tropical climate, maritime climate, and highland climate.


 Bartholemuel has three states: Ohta, the Collectiv, and Cade's Land. Migrants from Hspooksodile to the Great Puddle make the founding population of the Collectiv. More interestingly, extraterrestials dropped off the small tribal population of Cade's Land in the Range of Failure, where they thrived. Subsequently, a godly animal totem called a tribe of the Cade's people away on a journey that would later become the founding group of Ohta. 

The Collectiv: Zora


Location: Zora, named after the goddess of water, Zora.


site: on the banks of Lake Puddle, in a slight valley. there is a temperate climate with vegetation that suits a freshwater lake 1640ft above sea level.


situation: near the Big Milk, which is the settlement to the north, and Black Water to the south, which is found on the delta in the middle of the rain forest. it is also to the East of the Range of Failure, where the settlement of Leche can be found. To the West lies the Unknown Peaks, which are our natural boundary to the next continent.


Language: Marzena

When written Marzena looks like a fusion of shorthand Spanish and English. It is spoken from the head like many romance languages, so it tends to sound melodic, or like a chant, depending on the dialect.

Originally the Marzenian language was spoken with more consonants and was spoken more from the head and chest, like English. However, when the Marzens migrated out of their first home at the Grand Puddle the language became faster and more melodic, this was due mainly to the lack of consonants used when on the move. when the new settlement of Zora was established, the language of Heffles and morphed into Marzena, which has full vowel sounds and is spoken from the head, much like the romance languages of Earth.

They get their food from the Lake, as well as their drinking water. They use the mud on the banks of the lake to make mud huts, much like an adobe. Thier diet consists largely of fish, which they skewer and roast over an open fire. They also eat grasses, nuts, and berries. They use reeds to make their tools, baskets, and clothing. They adorn themselves with reed or grass skirts and vines decorated with flowers, usually worn as a headpiece or necklace. They tell stories of the great goddesses that created all. They also swim, fish, hold festivals honouring the goddesses, and make sculptures out of mud and clay.




The first group left the original settlement on Hcricky due to a severe drought that caused the lake to all but dry up. They travelled up to the source of the river in the Unknown Peaks and settled there. During this time many stopped believing in the goddesses, thinking they had abandoned them. Young believers of the goddesses caused a great deal of trouble in the settlement, leading the elders to exile them from the tribe. These believers moved to the other side of the mountains, where they found a new lake. Believing it was a sign from the Goddesses, they settled. It was named Zora, after the their goddess of large bodies of water.  


Since my people are refugees to this plant ,we don’t know all about it. We do know that the mountains we live on are creations of the east plate and west plate colliding to form them. The ocean currents we know about are that on the east it is warmer and wetter. On the west side it is drier, especially in the north, and this is caused by the mountain range that I live on. To continue on, the climate in the east cause for a dense forest/ jungle to form. In the west however, it contains grasslands, deserts,and in the far north some tundra. These are caused by the drier climate in the west.

The settlement that was founded on the bottom on the mountain range. This then allows my people to farm, hunt, etc. The settlement is called leche meaning “ new hope” in their old language. Leche is located in the center of all of the existing settlements on the continent. Leche is very close to a river system that comes off of the mountain range to the north allowing for fertile land all the way down to the ocean. The ocean is really far away though so that allows for lots of farming.

My language is based on the root language “ Heffels” which is based on an Indo-European language. Since I’m a refugee to this continent my language “Leite” is the most diverse from the rest of the settlements, but my language has been changing with all the trading and migration.

My people, since we are refugees, still follow are old beliefs like the men hunt, the women and children farm and gather food. We all live in the base of the mountains where we mine caves for us to live in. Since we hunt a lot of animals my people wear the hides of a diverse range of animals which also allows for my people to keep warm in the winters.

My people in a way are isolated, but still connected since after all we are in the middle of all the other settlements. This allows for all the other settlements to be influenced by my language since I’m in the center allowing for a good trading area ( meet in the middle). This can influence all the other settlements with my ideas and customs too. Also being in the center allows my region to be highly populated with people from all over our continent because that is where all the trade and activities are occurring.


Cade's Land: The Origins

Cade is the ruler of the great nation called Cades Land. This nation is a monarchy. The people have a great satisfaction with good civil rights and political freedoms. The citizens, Cadians, feel Cade (the monarch) is sensitive towards their opinions and will mainly follow what the citizens want. This way of controlling is very beneficial because arguments and riots against the government won't occur and this will also boost the nation’s development. The issues won’t occur because the people feel like they have a voice. Due to this, the economy has prevailed with the rank strong and has remained constant. The strength of the economy is what it is due to an external demand for the resources, which are silver, iron ore and nickel. However in Cades Land’s early stages, when the country was first forming, the country was very poor with few technologies that would allow people to excavate the land. Also the Cadians were forced out of the original world and landed on these mountains with no knowledge of this land. Eventually, Cades Land developed infrastructure to help them exploit the resources of their land. Cades Land produces mainly steel, which is a major export, and silver luxury items, such as silverware, with the raw materials available. With all these items, relationships with other neighboring countries has remained prosperous and mutual. Some of the country's trading partners consist of Jag gillar skoldpaddor, hakuna matata, The Collectiv, and The Federation of Ohta. Due to the desirable raw materials and manufactured ones this has definitely benefited the country’s urban development since the cash flow is always moving. In recent years, this has also allowed the country to develop at an extremely accelerated rate with skyscrapers popping up left and right. Also the transportation to rural areas has improved due to the fact that administrative areas look to access resources in these areas.

Based on this, Cades Land is a core country. This is because it has been developed for a decent amount of time. Also, Cades Land is at the stage “drive to maturity” on Rostow's model, due to the fact that Cades Land has recently developed. The environment has not been affected that bad since there are only three cities and a couple of mining towns which are mainly located on the west side of the country near the mountains and when people arrived here the landscape looked the same as it does now. The wildlife also plays a huge role in the country’s nation-wide religion that Cade imposed. The religion, Cade-ism, is more like a philosophy, with the wildlife being respected and people would only kill them if needed. In this religion there is no written doctrine since Cade invented it. Also, the only place people can worship it is in your home with small groups, and people worship the one and only, the king! 

Ohta: The Origins 

1500 years ago, a group of social hunters in the deep recesses of the mountains in Cade’s Land, saw a glorious white Lammergeier vulture. Entranced by its beauty, they attempted to hunt the beast, but it was too aware. The beast let loose an intimidating cry, and soared south est, following the river. The hunter quickly gathered a larger group and continued to follow before the bird was out of sight. The primitives eventually concluded from their journeies following the bird, that anything this resilient and beautiful, must be a God in form of bird.

The righteous group of hunters realized that they had lost their way, after two months of following the bird. They also realized, it was an entire flock, and that this number of birds cannot be a God, thus began to feed off of them and reproduce as they followed the flock.


After 3 more months, the now large social group of 153 men, women, and children, now realized they were too large to continue this way of life. They settled in a nearby forested, swampy like area and found that their tools for hunting birds worked vastly efficiently on freshwater fish and alligators. Swamp reeds were dense and difficult for insects to bypass onto skin, thus used as clothing. Logs and dried mud made for sufficient structures to withstand the hot and humid environment. Fires were never much of an issue to start with the discovery of the properties of certain local rocks.

The single settlement began to expand off into multiple settlements (which became known as Blackwater), which each created religions that followed the founding mothers beliefs in life. Each mother was a sister to another. Istyar, the eldest, always enjoyed new knowledge and was prone to question the spiritual importance of knowledge. Kulie, the youngest, had a deep love for nature, and preferred to be alone, instead of with her sisters, who were intolerant of her desire to bring wild animals into the dwellings. Kulie took some of her frustration into hunting and the creation of traditional Ohtan sports. Taule, the middle child, enjoyed being in the forest quite often. Contrarily to her sister, Kulie, Taule liked to spend her time with others and training herself to become a strong leader of her settlement.


Each sister was given a direction in which to expand their territory. Taule would go southwest, in the direction of her favorite tree, also the same place that she was buried, the tree inevitably fed off of her corpse and that eventually withered and died, but is still considered a religious sight to pay respects. Istyar expanded Eastern, towards the mountains that always gave her hope when she was unsure of herself. Kulie expanded North Easter, in the direction of where she caught her first alligator. Every year, to honor family tradition and to the great joy of Kulie, a huge feast was held for 3 days, complete with every way to prepare alligators and fish. This was often like a family reunion of sorts, but on the thirty seventh feast since the ascension of the sisters to motherhood, Kulie realized that the alligator population had been decreasing at an alarming rate due to the expansion of the settlements, and reliance of alligators. So Kulie asked Taule to send a group with members of all settlements to the shores, to see if they could find a land with an immense amount of crocodiles, known as Crocodile falls that was told to them by traders who passed through in the recent years. Reluctant, Taule gave in and sent the group. They did eventually find traders, and asked them to take them to Crocodile Falls. The traders required profit from the journey back, otherwise they would not be able to survive their way without the group. This was paid by Kulie.


The group was historically known to have made it to Crocodile falls, but was said to have turned back to inform Blackwater that they name was a lie, and there were no crocodiles, but never made it. It can only be assumed that they died on their voyage back.

However, Istyar and Taule blamed Kulie, because she was the one who suggested the group in the first place and paid for them. Istyar’s spouse was among the group members, and Istyar was thrust into a spiral of depression. Istyar eventually developed a resentment toward Kulie, who felt guilt and grief, most especially for what felt like the lose of her sister. The feelings eventually carried on to the apprentices and disciples of the mothers, and with their disciples and so on.


A feudal system eventually took place that allowed hunters with proficient skills to gain land, which eventually allowed Kulie religion to spread far more vastly than the other two, however when development of the three nations came along, Istyar knowledge overwhelmed Tuile and Kulie exponentially. The instilled resentment toward Kuile, which was over 250 years ago from that time, and 863 years ago from present day, caused Istyar to feel compelled to oppress Kuile with their industrial power and development taking advantage of the dwindling hunting based economy and society. Taule managed to act as a median that provided support mostly to Istyar to support what real industry it had.


200 years later, roughly 350 years from today, the Seorsa Quenat arose. At this point, assimilation of Kuile by Istyar was common under the phrase,” This is the only way you can gain the knowledge to die peacefully”. Taule had also been locally taking advantage of illiterate Kuile landowners, tricking them into giving up their land to the state of Taule. The Seorsa Quenat could not bear to allow this mockery of the ancient law of who would expand where to continue. After a brutal 5 years, they had rallied nearly 60% of the Kuile population to resist the corruption that was wrought upon their sister states. The Lussa of Stone and leader of the Seorsa Quenat, Beleg, had no issue waging war upon his sister states, and felt the need to abolish their power to the correct respective borders, so that peace could be maintained from there. A religious campaign where Kulie burned religious shrines and aina’ taures. The Kulie territory was expanded by four times, and the conquest lasted a total of 13 years. The Seorsa Quenat eventually were killed by Istyar and Taule assassins in a camp while they were leading an army of 23,000 planning to cut off supply routes directly to the Istyar capital of Blackwater city. The Istyar struggled in the war, due to immense surprise that Kulie could ever commit such atrocities.

The grueling war was known as Ohta a' i' Seldarine, or “War to the Gods”, referencing the sisters. A treaty made at the end of the war created a pact that united the sister cultures under one state, which was named after the only thing that seemed to be able to reunite the sisters: war. Thus the name Ohta. Though, the cultural landscape and political and developmental distribution are still legacies of the old states. And the following were the official descriptions by government regulations of the religions and history.


Very recently a tribe was found in Eastern Ohta called Lye Sakkata, and is theorized to be the descendants of the group that was sent by Kuile and contained Istyar’s spouse.


Ohta is a Democratic Federation that holds civil rights very dear, with a population that often enacts on the will of the peoples within their votes and inputs. But sometimes, corrupt leaders do invict their own laws, but are often torn down from power and punished publicly.

Within the past 50 years, the discovery of oil, dolomite, and feldspar consistently has caused huge increases in mining, pollution, SEZ’s, and population. Direct foreign investment and foreign firms are common because of the abundance, demand, and reliability of dolomite. The trade patterns are as such:

Cade’s land has iron, nickel, and silver. Collectiv has oil, uranium, and gas. Ohta sells dolomite to Cade’s land and Collectiv, oil to Cade’s land, and feldspar to Cade’s land and Collectiv.

Southern Ohta has felt the impact of these effects due to its abundance of dolomite.

Ohta’s governments try to compromise economically, mostly leaning toward conservatives however, who guilt trip the government officials by blaming them for all the suffering wild animals in the country. Though the expansion of humans, has never really been good environmentally, Ohta uses extensive and well enforced regulations to keep the progress to a reasonable rate.

Southern Ohta also has massive oil reserves, unfortunately in populated zones. The oil in only being extracted in areas that are unpopulated and moving populations of less than 500 to sustain Ohta’s primate cities and the heavy development in technology, in the areas. Feldspar reserves in North Western Ohta overlay with the Collectiv’s boundaries, so far no conflict has occurred because of a respect of borders. Yet, the area has massive amounts of migrant workers coming in from various states around the world. So many new towns have developed and one primate city known as Tyloiteria has quickly developed near the reserves of feldspar, gaining a population almost of 5 million in only a couple years. The majority of the entire city is squatter settlements and low income workers. Blackwater has also been increasing with the oil and dolomite profits going almost directly to the governments many public funding programs, police force, and education. Political freedoms are well held as part of the freedom that all three sisters had always believed in. Economy is neutrally balanced, and not high, because of the environmental conservation policies that reduce pollution, thus industry as well. (Political budgeters also seem to be completely incompetent) It is also predicted that the city of Sindi Lia will become a primate city due to its position along primary oil and dolomite transportation routes. Products include, petroleum, glass, ceramics, concrete, cement, asphalt, paints, plastics, rubbers, and various more items. Only two countries on the planet do not invict trade with Ohta due to their preference of mud and dirt houses.


Infrastructure in Ohta is based solely upon bullet trains, and other electromagnetic tracked transports. The old centers of each old state in the federation is a central point in the track, the main connection with Collectiv is in the NorthWest, and the main connection with Cade’s Land in the East. Port connections to the rest of the world run off of the far east, west, and central southern coastal ports. Rare Earth is required for pretty much all of the bullet trains, so peaceful trade relations with The Armed Republic of Mehoyminoy.


Ohta does have a large service sector in the primate cities and areas around them, but the industry is the sole source of income at the moment, and thus would be a semi-peripheral country. Ohta is taking off and in into maturing but has not met all the stated requirements, rather lying in a gray area.


Lately, two religious groups have formed. One focusing on conservative and traditional practices, the other on advancements, technology, and betterment of quality of life.

Within the past few years, two religious movements have begun to make their appearance in the public. Each with contradictory belief systems. Iant coiasira, which has the public's favor, is a large, but isolated, religion centered in the primate cities of Ohta. Iant coiasira believes than Ohta should revert back to the old wyas, back to the times where matters were simpler, and times less hard. Artistic passions (such as dance, sculpting, song, and story writing) are promoted in the forms or focus of the olden cultures. Weekly, the Iant coiasira random selects a group of 15 followers to experience what their ancestors might have felt. I.E. they are sent to a swamp with limited supplies and assistance to live for two weeks. No participants have died or any causalities emerging, because the Iant coiasira gives moderate assistance to those in extreme condition. Upon return, the chosen are given a profound respect for their ancestors (not to mention given 150,000 Fingers of Corpses, high-class jobs, housing, and religious power in the organization). This has promoted the religion, and entertainment that evaluates the chosen when they are in the swamp. Iant coiasira often uses popular methods and bandwagon to promote their cultural movements. Ironically using technology, celebrities, and popular appeasement to sustain their belief of returning to older times.


The second emerging religion, was entirely online based, far more widespread across the world, did not contribute only to Ohta, but did not have as passionate believers, and carried no practices to popularly promote itself intentionally. This group is known simply as Bela. It started around the same time as Iant coiasira as an online thread on It believed solely on the idea that life is motion, and that all things must continue to move and advance to sustain itself and survive. The members believed that in helping other to see the use of technology, and how it could truly improve person physically, mentally, and spiritually. Soon a leader arose through all the random, vulgar comments. This user's name was HaWt_ShAwT, who suggested cruel and inhumane methods to allow one to be given prosthetics that would improve natural ability. I.E. running, drawing, singing. Etc. None did more than speculate for a long time, until this user decided he had nothing to fear, he replaced 30% of his body with metal prosthetics, mostly his limbs. Later on he would go to create a funding organization where people could go and have a surgery done to fix their “flaws”. Some of the people who did this thought it would be impressive to add homemade laser cannons to their prosthetics. They were arrested before they could complete their projects on the account of falsely purchasing military weapons equipment that they wanted to add after their lasers. Iant coiasira mocked this as a lesson to what technology can do to a person and how it corrupts. The controversy is ongoing and both groups constantly ask for the government to intervene and support their beliefs. Though both groups are growing immensely and becoming near uncontrollable. The government is wary,



Breaking News out of Ohta today, a plane has gone down or rather disappeared as it was flying over blackwater. Officials will not disclose information at this time as to where they believe the plane is. The cargo of the missing airliner is unknown to us at this time but we believe that the plane was carrying human passengers. The plane was supposed to land in the capital of Cades Land earlier this evening and as of now teams were sent out hoping to find the wreckage but were caught in the bureaucratic red tape of the Ohta government. This has caused some fights to break out between the two countries but the fights seem to have been resolved. Meanwhile the Collectiv already has a new show called the Z-Files in production based on this event. This has been Poppycock Bullwinkle and the 7o’ clock nightly news.

 The Collectiv: The Origins

Collectiv started out as a small settlement by the name of Zora. Zora came to be ruled by a line of great priestesses, until the political revolution. After the theocracy fell, the republic of Collectiv was formed. It was a peaceful revolution that caused only minimal disruption in the average citizen's life due to the fact that bureaucracy knows how to handle things effectively and quietly. Currently the country has no official religion, and the government is tolerant of all religions in the nation. The citizens of Collectiv still experienced extensive political freedoms and civil rights, with the only major change being that the nation wouldn’t be governed by the laws of Dionism. The only thing left from Collectiv’s theocratic days is it’s socialist economy.


The Collectiv economy thrives do to its large pharmaceutical industry that uses the nation's plants to profit off of other nations that are at war and/or would like medicinal products. The Collectiv possesses one primate city, Zora, which is the only urban area in the country. The people of the Collectiv get around by using the extensive waterways in the country, and also well worn trails that they ride bikes on to get from place to place. The Collectiv’s relationship with other nations is to be the moderator of negotiations, to be the place to keep off-shore funds, and to get their pharmaceuticals from. However the primary trade partners are Ohta and Cadesland, who are both part of the supranational organization in Bartholomeul.


In the Rostow model of modernization the Collectiv would be in the transition stage from a pre-industrial to a post-industrial nation. In the Wallerstein model the Collectiv would be seen as a semi-periphery nation because it doesn’t have a large, competitive, capitalist economy. In terms of Collectiv, man has had minimal impacts to the environment; because when it was under Dionism one of the rules was “don’t be greedy with nature.” The only major environmental impact has been large herb farms in the middle of the nation's plains.

Economic interactions history:

After Ohta’s civil war, it tried to compensate with its struggling economy, that was devastated by the war and larger size, by establishing trade with the neighboring states. Tropical spices and herbs were often the form of export for the early Ohtan economy, Collectiv exports a variety of pharmaceuticals and crops. Alligator hides were exchanged with goat hides from Cade’s Land. Collectiv supplies the majority of crops in the continent, Blackwater produces most lumber, aquatic foods, poultry. Cade’s Land exports iron, nickel, silver, ice, sheep, and alpacas. For a while, boats were a mode of transport for trade and migration. Blackwater loved the biodegradable wool clothing available from Cade’s Land’s sheep, and thus had good trade relations with Cade’s Land. Blackwater also began textile industry before the other nations. Cade’s Land sent slaves to early industrialized Blackwater, which were later banned, causing economic distress for Cade’s Land, and causing civil unrest for Cade’s Land supporters which continues to this day. However Cade’s Land has recovered due to the technology it can use to more efficiently mine its many mineral resources. Just twenty years later, seventeen eternal beings descended and wrecked havoc upon the entire continent. The human societies banned together and created machines of war to kill these celestial powers, a corpse of one off the deities is trapped within one of the war machines that resides on the absolute center of where borders of the states intersect. The reconstruction sent all the countries into economic distress. It took 50 years to completely rebuild and memorial sites can be found today. Out of the struggle, the states became united under the cause of survival, and the supranational organization of The Bartholemuel Defensive Union (BDU). Government propaganda, using unitary monorail infrastructure, and free trade between member states have helped to bring the three countries together peacefully. The production each state specializes in supports the other two whom lack it. Collectiv provides crops, medicine, technology, and banking. Cade’s Land has raw mineral materials, industrial cloth and fabric production, and hydroelectric power plants.
